Washington Nationals/Teixeira Talk...Reports On $'s and Years Leaking...(5:30 pm Update)
Yahoo! Sports' writer Jose Mota is reporting, in his article entitled, "Nationals extend offer to Teixeira", that Washington has put a 7-Year/$150 M dollar deal on the table for the free agent first baseman...Earlier today, I heard XM MLB Hot Stove host Buck Martinez say that the offer was in the 7/8-Year/$160 M dollar range...The speculation everywhere though, is that the Red Sox might be willing to go as high as $200 M to sign Teixeira...And don't forget about the LA Angels...Teixeira and his agent Scott "Maximum" Boras are reportedly seeking 10-Years/$200 M...How high will Washington go? How high should they go?
Here's Washington Post writer Dave Sheinin's take from a Nationals Journal post entitled, "Teixeira: The Lay of the Land."
UPDATE - On ESPN.com's "Baseball Tonight: Hot Stove Special", Peter Gammons says, (to paraphrase)...the Nationals have gone hard at Teixeira, and they are still an option for Manny Ramirez. The Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, and Nationals still in the running for Teixeira...If Teixeira goes to Boston, it leaves the Angels and Nationals as the suitors for Manny Ramirez.
ESPN.com's Tim Kurkjian (again paraphrasing)...says that the Nationals should be interested in Adam Dunn, and from what he hears, no one else is talking about the free agent outfielder, so his price might come down....
I'll add any additional updates in the Comments...

man i hate the Red Sox
this season alone shoul dbe enough impetus to the “have-not” owners to demand a salary cap from their “haves” brethren. if the Sox add Tex for $200M and the Yankees land Sabathia AND Burnett? criminal.

A lot of people are saying the same things...
…about the Yankees and Red Sox…here we go again, the Yanks and Sox split all of the available free agents and everyone else sifts through what’s left after the big boys are done…Rob Dibble was on XM all afternoon saying the same things as you write here…I’d rather see Burnett sign with Atlanta than with NY…knowing DC will have to face him all season…but as I’ve noted before, the Yankees didn’t make the playoffs last season, so the alarm was sounded and the wallet opened…

Are alarms still "sounded?"
Manny is going to the Phils…
It sounded right when I read it on my phone...
…great now you’ve made me get synesthetic…Manny is not going to Philly…though they did set Burrell free…

tex
overrated—for 80 mil less Dunn could be had and he might not bat .320 but he would provide around 40 HRs each year, which is a career year for teixeira. If the FO is willing to give $21M/year for teixeira how about $15M for Dunn and $6M for a serviceable closer?
salaries
Does anyone know where I can find a list of salaries for our players? I was wondering how much we are paying ronnie belliard to eat fast food….
This is where I always check for salary info...
Cott’s Baseball Contracts….Belli’s going to get $1.9 M this season…
