Are The Washington Nationals Going To Deal "Don Sutton's Favorite Pitcher" Tim Redding?

MLB.com's Thomas Harding is back again with another post at MLB.com's HOT STOVE BLOG about the possibility of Tim Redding being traded from Washington to Colorado, with the Rockies sending Willy Taveras to DC...even though several sources have denied that the Nationals were interested in Taveras as recently as yesterday...in MLB.com's Bill Ladson's article, "Nats unlikely to trade for Taveras", where Mr. Ladson writes that Carlos Gonzalez is the Nationals' target...but at 10:51 pm EST...MLB.com's Bill Ladson's countered Mr. Harding's claims with a post entitled, "No deal between Nats and Rockies"...

couple of things

a) i like the Tex offer, if that’s legit
b) why on earth would the Nats TRADE for Tavarez. the Rocks are going to non-tender him. also, the Rocks are particularly crazy if they trade Gonzalez for Redding. Tim’s a great guy and a steady performer, but he’s league average. there are dozens of Tim Reddings on the free agent market. Gonzalez is a definite talent and already a bona fide defensive center fielder that projects to a 15 homer guy in CF (sound like anyone else currently on the roster, except for the defensive part?)

…the offer, whatever the years and $‘s actually are, does seem to be out there…and I must admit, it surprised the heck outta me…that’s a BIG BOYS offer…now let’s see the Nationals battle the Red Sox in a bidding war…

I don’t know what the Nationals might be thinking with Taveras, or what the Rockies are thinking they’re getting in Redding?…very odd…
