Washington's leadoff hitter Felipe Lopez starts Interleague play off with a single through short off Baltimore lefty Garrett Olson. Cristian Guzman unloads on a fastball for a ground rule double one hop and into the left field stands. Ryan Zimmerman golfs a 1-0 fastball to left, two runs score. 2-0 Nationals. Shawn Hill has to get over to cover on a hard hit grounder to Aaron Boone at first, but Hill beats Nick Markakis to the bag and completes a 1-2-3 first.

Jesus Flores rips a liner right over Olson's left hip as he's bent over still at the end of his delivery. Wily Mo Pena's robbed by Brian Roberts who dives to his glove side to make a slick catch. Elijah Dukes grounds the first pitch to short, Freddie Bynum, to Roberts, to Kevin Mill-ah. Double play...Aaron Boone bobbles Aubrey Huff's grounder to first, but backhands to Hill who beats Huff to the bag. Hill issues a one-out walk to Mill-ah. Former Astro Luke Scott pops up to short center. O's catcher Ramon Hernandez drops a rainbow into left center, but Millar thinks third then quickly reassesses, and ends up getting thrown out while scurrying back to second.

Ryan Zimmerman blasts a two-out single off Melvin Mora's glove and into left. DY flies out to center for the second time tonight. Hill's quickly back on the mound in the third. Shawn Hill reaches his glove out for a grounder from Adam Jones and deadens it enough to leave Felipe Lopez without a play. Hill drops a 2-2 sinker under Freddie Bynum's bat. Brian Roberts turns a sinker the other way for a single to left. Hill walks Melvin Mora to load'em up for Nick Markakis. Markakis grounds to Zimmerman, to Lopez at second, but the throw to first gets away from Boone allowing two runs to cross to tie it at 2-2 after three.

Aaron Boone leads off the fourth with a line drive to center. Lastings Milledge blasts one deep into the hole at short and beats out Freddie Bynum's off-the-mark throw. Jesus Flores pushes a high fastball to right for the third straight Nationals' single. Wily Mo Pena's fooled by two curves and then takes a high fastball that's a called strike three. Elijah Dukes sends Luke Scott sprinting to the wall in left, and settles for a sac fly and a 3-2 DC lead. Felipe Lopez strands two runners with a line-out to center. Luke Scott ties it for the O's in the bottom of the inning, taking Hill to right on a long liner into the stands. 3-3 ballgame.

Ryan Zimmerman beats out a ground ball to Bynum's backhand for a one-out single in the fifth. DY chases a curve for a swinging strike three. Olson hits Aaron Boone's back leg. Lastings Milledge smokes one...into Olson's glove and Milledge tosses his helmet in frustration. 3-3 middle of five. Brian Roberts bounces a line drive off the scoreboard in right and Elijah Dukes chases it down while Roberts takes third. Melvin Mora flies out deep enough for a sa...Milledge drops it on a diving attempt at a catch and Mora ends up at second. 4-3 O's. Hill brings a fastball back in on Markakis for strike three staring. Kevin Millar sneaks an RBI single under Zimmerman's glove, but gets thrown out trying to take second, 5-3 Orioles after five.

Matt Albers takes the hill in place of Olson in the sixth, and promptly walks the leadoff batter, Jesus Flores. Wily Mo Pena breaks a bat flying out to left. Elijah Dukes takes a 3-1 fastball down the pipe and swings through the full count offering from Albers. Felipe Lopez dejectedly swipes at a low fastball that fools him for strike three. Matt Chico's out of the pen again and on the mound in the bottom of the sixth. Chico gets Luke Scott, Ramon Hernandez and Adam Jones for a 1-2-3 sixth.

DY's up against Albers with two down in the seventh, and he reaches first safely on a pop fly to short left that the Orioles all converge on and watch drop into the grass. Aaron Boone goes down chasing. Stand up and stretch...Quick 1-2-3 seventh for Chico in his second scoreless in relief.

Lastings Milledge beats out a sharp grounder to the hole in short to leadoff the eighth. Albers is done for the night. Jim Johnson, the O's large hard throwing righty drops a 2-2 curve on a surprised Jesus Flores. Another curves torments Wily Mo Pena. Johnson throws a fastball to Dukes and gets a called strike three to end the top of the eighth. Matt Chico's gonna throw the eigth as well, and he gives up a double to Markakis to start the home half. Aubrey Huff flies out to center and Markakis takes off on Milledge and beats the throw to third. Chico's lifted for Jesus "Everyday" Colome. Colome's slider's biting and three of them send Millar back to the bench. Pinch hitter Jay Payton grounds the first pitch to short to end the eighth.

Three outs to get two runs for Washington against O's closer George Sherrill. Felipe Lopez grounds out to first. Cristian Guzman pops out to second. Ryan Zimmerman lines out to first. The Orioles win. 5-3 O's.

I'm glad I missed this one...

Sounds like a painful, frustrating game. I’ve been trolling WPA charts lately looking for big plays—this game had precisely zero, errors and misplayed fly balls and rundowns notwithstanding. Better luck tonight, right?

LET’S GO NATS!

Yeah...not the best game of the year...

...in spite of all the Interleague Intrigue…even the Nationals “look” imposing with a DH in their lineup, I stress “look.”

If you were gonna miss one, you picked a good one…to, uh, miss…

Everything I say is a "little" sarcastic...
