Florida Marlins at Washington Nationals: Game Report..."Nationals Beaten By Marlins...AGAIN!!!"
Florida center fielder Cody Ross dumps the second pitch into short right for a leadoff single to start tonight's game. DC righty Tim Redding throws a fastball by Jeremy Hermida for a swinging K. Cody Ross steals second as a ball in the dirt delays the throw from Nationals' catcher Wil Nieves, and Ross takes third when the throw to second gets by Cristian Guzman and rolls into center. Ramirez flies out to left. Ross tags and scores. 1-0 Fish.
Still 1-0 when Tim Redding issues a leadoff walk to Hermida in the fourth. Hanley Ramirez shoots a line drive to right and barely beats the throw in from Austin Kearns to second base, Hermida to third. Jorge Cantu pushes a single through second to score both runners. 3-0 Marlins. Nick Johnson and Lastings Milledge single in succession in the home half of the inning. Austin Kearns goes to a full count with Nolasco and takes ball four. Wily Mo Pena up with bases loaded, 2 outs, Pena works the count full...and takes ball four. One run scores. 3-1 Florida. Wil Nieves grounds out to end the fourth.
Redding gives up a single to Jeremy Hermida to lead off the top of the sixth. Hanley Ramirez walks in front of Jorge Cantu, who pops out to the infield. One down. Redding walks Uggla, and Jesus Colome is going to inherit a bases loaded jam. 0-1 fastball up high and Luis Gonzalez rips it to right to clear the bases. 6-1 Marlins. Wes Helms singles to right. Matt Treanor singles to center. 7-1 Marlins after six.
Matt Chico makes his first relief appearance in the seventh, Elijah Dukes takes over in left. Chico gives up a two-out single to Jorge Cantu that soars out of the reach of a leaping Guzman at short. Dan Uggla does the same. Luis Gonzalez grounds out to end a scoreless frame for Chico. Doug Waechter replaces Nolasco for the bottom of the seventh. Wil Nieves singles in front of Elijah Dukes. Dukes goes down swinging over a curve. Cristian Guzman scores Nieves with a two-out double. 7-2 Marlins. Waechter walks Ryan Zimmerman. Nick Johnson doubles over first, Guzman scores from second. 7-3 Marlins. Milledge walks to load the bases. Austin Kearns...will face a new pitcher, Justin Miller. Kearns pops out.
Matt Chico pitches his second scoreless in the eigth. Elijah Dukes' second at bat in the eigth ends with another swinging K. "Wild" Joel Hanrahan works a scoreless ninth in relief. Three outs to get four runs...Kevin Gregg on in a non-save situation. Felipe Lopez flies out to center. Cristian Guzman grounds out to short. Ryan Zimmerman flies out to second. Marlins win 7-3.
Nationals now 15-21.

just got back from the stadium
very disappointing performance tonight. Redding not very sharp. Colome lets inherited runners core like it’s his job. no big hits after bunches of little ones. Guzman half-efforted a weak line drive. just disappointing.

Guzman half-efforted against FOUR weak line drives.
Well, maybe a couple of them had some snap. Still, he needed about 2 inches more reach tonight. Those two bases-loaded situations were beautiful, horrible instances of baseball. Why do all our rallies have to happen with two outs? C’mon, Nats!
Chico’s two scoreless weren’t altogether embarrassing at all. His second only took 9 pitches, I think.

You gotta score those two-out runs when you get the chance...
Seems we’re all in agreement about Guzman’s efforts, or at least the appearance of a lack of effort…
Redding didn’t have it. Jesus Colome confuses me…Chico looked alright, still don’t think it makes sense though…
