Plays of the week, #7

A little late, but let's see what was exciting this week... a few interesting plays in interleague week, including two fielding plays (one good, one bad), a big positive-WPA pitching play, and some nice clutch hits.  As always, in terms of win-percentage added.

Top ten plays (good and bad) after the jump.

Star-divide

10). Felipe Lopez, vs Angels (6/23/08): -0.152 for his between-the-legs error that let the Angels score the tying run in the 8th.

9). Tim Redding, Elijah Dukes, vs Angels (6/25/08): +0.163 for getting a medium-deep bases-loaded popup to RF that Dukes fielded and fired home to gun down the runner tagging from third--DOUBLE PLAY!

8). Lastings Milledge, vs Angels (6/25/08): +0.165 for a two-run shot that gave the Nats a first-inning 2-0 lead.

7). John Lannan, vs Orioles (6/28/08): -0.169 for giving up an RBI triple that let the Oes tie it 1-1 early. It would get much, much worse in the 9-1 Nats loss--just not with any exciting plays, only depressing ones...

6). Kory Casto, vs Orioles (6/27/08): +0.196 for a 7th-inning RBI double that put the Nats ahead 3-2.

5). Joel Hanrahan, vs Rangers (6/22/08): -0.234 for giving up an RBI single that put the Rangers up 4-3 in 8th--with two outs!

4). Jon Rauch, vs Orioles (6/27/08): +0.236 for getting a no-outs, double-play grounder with runners on first and second in the top of the ninth!  Nats go on to win 4-2.

3). Luis Ayala, vs Angels (6/25/08): -0.253 for giving up an RBI double that brought the Angels to within one and put runners on 2nd/3rd with one out!

2). Jesus Flores, vs Angels (6/25/08): +0.298 for a one-out, walkoff RBI single, scoring Elijah Dukes. Nats win 5-4.

1). Ronnie Belliard, vs Rangers (6/22/08): +0.321 for a game-tying, two-run shot in the 7th. Nats go on to lose 5-3.

O's and Nats Pitching

I found this really interesting look into Brian Burres and John Lannan and their pitching. Just thought I would share with some fellow district fans… check it out.
