San Francisco Giants at Washington Nationals: Game Report..."Lincecum Coils Back And Unwinds Toward Home...Plus DC Welcomes Back Emmanuel Burriss"

 

Washington righty Jason Bergmann gets two ground ball outs before surrendering the first hit of the night to San Francisco outfielder Randy Winn. Giants’ catcher Bengie Molina pops up a 2-1 pitch, and Bergmann completes his first scoreless...Tim Lincecum blows Guzman away with 96 mph heat, gets a groundout from Elijah Dukes, and gets Lastings Milledge to fly out to right. No score after one. 

 

Aaron Rowand reaches for a fastball hanging out over the plate and lines it to left for a leadoff single. Ray Durham doubles over Dukes’ head and off the wall, Rowand to third, and first baseman John Bowker knocks Rowand in with a single. 1-0 Giants. Omar Vizquel and Tim Lincecum both ground out, and Bergmann walks Freddie Lewis to bring Jose Castillo up...Castillo flies out to center, and Bergmann escapes with minimal damage...Lincecum retires the Nationals in order in the second. 

 

Bergmann lets the lead runner on again when Randy Winn singles. Winn’s running when Bengie Molina smacks a perfect hit and run single to right. Rowand up, with two on, and he lines out to short. Ray Durham...singles through second. Winn scores. 2-0 Giants. One out later, Omar Vizquel singles to center to load the bases. Jason Bergmann walks the opposing pitcher to force in a run. 3-0 Giants. Fred Lewis takes the next pitch to right on a low liner through second that scores two. 5-0 SanFran. Aaron Boone drops Jose Castillo’s foul pop near first, and Castillo takes advantage of the second chance, to homer to left center. 3-run blast. 8-0 Giants after two and a half. Tim Lincecum retires the Nationals in order, including pinch hitter pitcher Tim Redding, who strikes out swinging. 

 

Bergmann’s done after...(3.0 IP, 10 hits, 8 runs, 5 ER, 2 walks, 0 K's, 1 HR, 5.23 ERA to end the night.) Jesus “Everyday” Colome takes over on the mound. Colome gets a groundout from Molina, throws a 96 mph fastball by Rowand and gets a liner to right from Ray Durham for a scoreless fourth...Cristian Guzman almost drops a single into center, but Aaron Rowand comes sliding in to make the grab. Dukes grounds back to the mound. Lastings Milledge singles on a line drive to left for the first hit of the day off Lincecum. Boone pops up to the infield. Four scoreless for Lincecum. 8-0 SF. 

 

John Bowker singles to start the fifth. Colome gets a DP grounder out of Omar Vizquel. Lincecum lines out to left, Langerhans has it, DC due up. Kory Casto reaches on an infield single. Felipe Lopez grounds to Vizquel’s backhand, to Durham, to Bowker at first, double play to end the fifth. Colome strikes out the first two batters in the sixth, but walks Randy Winn with two down. Bengie, One of the Catching Molina Brothers, grounds out to end the inning. Ryan Langerhans leads off the DC sixth with a line drive single. Willie Harris pinch hits for Colome. Harris grounds back to the mound, Langerhans to second. Guzman’s out on a swinging bunt. Elijah Dukes doubles just inside third to beat Jose Castillo to the line. Langerhans scores. Dukes in at second. 8-1 G-Men. Milledge drives one deep to center, but Rowand catches it over his shoulder at the track. 

 

And Now A New Feature...THE FAST FORWARD...Pinch hitter Brian Horvitz singles to start the seventh off with a single. Ray Durham chops one by Felipe Lopez to put two on. Brian Sanches walks Bowker to load ‘em up for Omar Vizquel who hits a sac fly to center to score Horvitz. 9-1 Giants after six and a half. Stand up and stretch...Jesus Flores’ doubles with two down in the Nationals’ seventh, with Lincecum still in control on the mound. Felipe Lopez flies out to left, and Lincecum’s through seven....Kory Casto dives to his glove side and throws to first in time to get Randy Winn for the second out of the eighth...Bengie Molina’s two-out single scores Fred Lewis from second...10-1 Giants after seven and a half. Alex Hinshaw takes over for Lincecum to close out the eighth...Langerhans, Harris, and Wily Mo Pena go down in order...A product of the DC area returns to pinch hit in the ninth, as Emmanuel Burriss singles on a sliced liner to center that gets his assembled relatives up and jumping in the stands...Three outs to get seven runs...Elijah Dukes swings over a breaking ball for strike three. SF reliever Billy Sadler gets the Nationals in order in the ninth. Giants win 10-1.

 

Nationals now 25-37.
