Are the Nats the next loveable losers?

Well here is one die-hard Cubs fan taking you guys up on your offer to make a fan post... I'll be listening to the WGN radio cast of today's game while at work (I have a boss who loves baseball so it all works out)...

Anyway, I was thinking on what to write about the Natioanls when this thought came to me. Are the Nationals the next loveable losers? Bear in mind that, as a Cubs fan, I don't mean this as an insult but rather as the highest of compliments. My Cubbies are doing excellently this year and look poised to maybe, just maybe, end the futility in October. If they do accomplish this feat, it seems like the baseball world will need another team to be the loveable losers....

What say you Nats fans? Are you headed for years of waiting 'til next year like us Cubs fans or do you think you'll make a run at the WS sooner rather than later?

You forget to add a choice for "I believe in the 5-year plan!"

Comrade Bowden informs us that production in the outfield has been mandated to increase by 150%, while the buildup of the infield shall soon far outpace the decadent West… Already our legions of light-hitting middle infielders are making the NL East quake with mild interest! The dialectic, as decreed by Bill James and interpreted by Ted Lerner, decrees that the Curly W shall reign triumphant over the NL East! Real Soon Now!

Er, can I pick both?

Fire Lenny! Fire Bowden! Fire SOMEONE!

I hope no other Cubs' hear you counting your playoff "chickens before they hatch."

There's a reason

I tried to speak in the most general terms! :) It’s the only way to avoid the voodoo

Actually, I'm at peace with it.

Wait, it’s her fault we lost!

Not really; that happens. I’m pretty comfortable saying the Cubs should make the playoffs. It’s not guaranteed, but it would take a collapse of epic proportions, especially for a team with no one true MVP candidate (ie an injury might not derail them).

I voted for No

Beacuse every team finds a way to get there before the Cubs do!
