WBC roster released! Let's see your lineup for Team USA!
Today @ 6pm EST MLBn (MLB Network) released the official roster for all 16 teams participating in the World Baseball Classic. I'm interested in seeing how everyone's starting lineups/rotation (we'll go 4 man rot.) would look if you were manager of Team USA. Here's how mine would look. U-S-A! U-S-A!
LINEUP:
1. J. Rollins (SS)
2. D. Pedroia (2B)
3. B. McCann ( C )
4. C. Quentin (DH)
5. R. Braun (LF)
6. G. Sizemore (CF)
7. D. Wright (3B)
8. K. Youklis (1B)
9. S. Victorino (RF)
ROTATION: assuming a 4 man rotation:
1. R. Oswalt
2. J. Peavy
3. J. Lackey
4. J. Verlander

I sent a text to a friend of mine, who also happens to be a Mets fan...
Q: Who starts at third, Chipper or D. Wright?
A: This IS the last chance for Chipper and his back, D. Wright has got another 10 years to bask in the limelight…Give Chipper a final bow.
Though there is a DH spot avaialable, so both could play…

You know
It’s that kind of mentality, (your friend’s) that is comparable with your other friend and mine, one Mr. Omar Minaya, that has made the former Expos (current Nats) and the current Mets the underachievers they are.
No my friend. I will not standby and put a player in my lineup for sentimental reasons. Nope, nope, nope.
In the voice of Mike Singletary as he ranted about Vernon Davis earlier in the NFL season:
See this link for context: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB5-yJM3vJc
“I will not tolerate players (Chipper) that think it’s about them (Chipper). When it’s about the team.”
“We cannot make decisions that cost the team.”
“…And then come off the ball field and act non-chalant.’
"…No…You know what?”
“…I, I, I, I…This is what I believe. I’m from the old school…”
“…I believe this. I would rather play with 8 people. And just get them tossed out all the way.”
“…Until we gotta do somethin’ else – rather than play with 9 when I know that right now that person (Chipper) is not sold out to be a part of this team.”
“It is more about them (Chipper) than it is about the team.”
“Cannot play with ’em (Chipper).”
“Cannot win with ’em (Chipper).”
“Cannot coach with ’em (Chipper).”
“Can’t do it.”
“I want winners. (Not Chippers).”
“I want people that wanna win. (Not Chippers).”
BWA-HA-HA-HA!!! Absolutely cracking myself up right now.

That kind of talk makes Buzz Bissinger mad...

Whoops
Tell Mr. Bissinger I left my inner Bob Woodward at the door when I came in, however, point taken.
With all due respect to Mr. Bissinger, I was under the assumption that as long as the eloquent discussion or diatribe on SB Nation was factual, well written and humorous to a degree, that it would be accepted.
I’m sensing a shift in attitude @ SB Nation. The AA blog has become quite persnickety / pretentious and at one point it almost turned me off to the Mets (can you imagine?). But then I came to my senses and realized that I couldn’t fault the Mets for a blog!
I certainly feel no pompous attitude here at Federal Baseball. With that said, I’ll mind my manners and keep the semi-salaciousness in check.
