Adrian Gonzalez - Questions from a Padre Fan
Congratulations on landing Strasburg. Was a pleasure to watch him excel this year at SDSU. I am not going to lie, I was hoping you could not get a deal done. Sorry about that :) We(The Padres) are currently in a pickle in that we don't want to spend money, seems like we never do. After hiring the young Jed Hoyer away from Boston, talk around town is that Adrian Gonzalez may be traded. Consecutive gold glove wins over Albert Pujols, went for 40HR & his BB numbers were astounding. What value does he have to the Nationals? Because I really would hate to see him moved to a team like the Red Sox or ugh Mets.
What do you think the chances are the Padres could put a package together to send A-Gonz to DC & send Strasburg back home. If you noticed last year, the Padres have them self quite a young pitching talent in Mat Latos - Not Strasburg type of course but a talented young player none the less. Padres are also trying to rid themselfs of the towering Chris Young, who has proven when healthy to be a hell of a pitcher. So let me ask you, do you think the Padres got the stuff to put a package together to bring Strasburg back home?
Thanks for your time & take it easy on me.

I personally would be totally fine with trading Strasburg for Gonzalez and Latos, but I think Strasburg is probably about as untouchable as you can get to the Nats organization.

Also, They are talking about trading Heath Bell as well
Who led the NL in saves last year. Mike Adams was absolute gold last year also.
Regarding KP...
There are no "great" trades available right now, but... There should be plenty available before the trade deadline. He like the really smart kid in the candy store, instead of blowing his money on a bunch of tootsie rolls, he is going to wait until the price goes down on the big sucker.

Can't trade Strasburg for a year (although I don't know when that year starts and ends......)
Plus, the PR hit on the Nats’ FO would destroy what little credibility they have…..

He is untouchable.
Along with Zimmerman, Lannan, Storen and maybe Zimm the pitcher…
I wouldnt mind trading Stras either TBH when his stocks are high (let him fireball it up for a season in the bigs)…but I think if they did and he DID turn out to be a Cy Young winner…it would go down in history as a Expo’s-like trade.

I think he's untradeable for a full calendar year after he signed
So Aug 17, 2010 is when he is eligible to be traded.

I would trade Dunn and strassburg for
Adrian Gonzalez (future MVP)
Will Venable (outstanding RF with an average bat)
Heth Bell (OK closer)
Joe thatcher (Dominant young pitcher 2010 projected FIP 2010)
