AFL Rising Stars Showcase GameThread...

Phoenix Municipal Stadium

Phoenix Municipal Stadium

The rising stars of the Arizona Fall League face off at 8:15 pm EST tonight, in the AFL's Rising Stars Showcase which will feature a total of 18 1st Round picks (including 5 from 2009 acc. to this AFL pdf) between the two rosters composed of the AFL East and West's best, including the Washington Nationals' second 1st Round pick Drew Storen and RHP Josh Wilkie. Stephen Strasburg, who was scheduled to start for the East squad, was scratched yesterday with what team officials are calling a "strained neck muscle", which will be enough to keep him out of action though no one appears too concerned.

The game will be broadcast live on MLB.tv and the MLB Network.

Big night in baseball......Today "the party will be till morning." Los Tigres del Licey will be celebrating its 102 anniversary...

“The party begins with gifts, toasts, fireworks show and a popular festival, thanks to Samsung, President and Brugal.
In addition, the birthday party Licey 102 will be dedicated to Jesus Alou. Next to Jesus will be his brother Philip,……..”

For the big game, torpedo boat Ian Desmond has been benched in favour of real MLB baseball player Anderson Hernandez at SS and Emilio Bonifacio at DH. This paid immediate dividends as Licey jumps out to a 4-0 lead in the first.
No players of importance on the opposing Leones del Escogido, unlike last night when Kory Casto made his debut with the Aguilas Cibaenas team…

7-0 EAST leads...here's hoping they just use the pitchers who are there...

Cause it’s hard to imagine a save situation for Storen…though these games always end up 12-1-ish…

Jinx Post Of the Game.....

Just got off work and didn’t expect to read that Storen was the goat… Will make him work harder, I suppose… More yoga!

Yeah, that was my hope.

I feel bad for Drew Storen… he’s pretty much been forgotten by fans, though that might be a good thing for him. I read a quote from him about how few autographs he’s signed today.

Ooops...I was just going to say woohoo for the 'Noles"

leading Clemson, but, just like that, Clemson scored.
Hope your team pulls it out like Carolina finally did today.

Thanks...

I fully expect to lose, but if we’re close in the fourth quarter, we may actually surprise them.

I won’t be upset if we lose. I want to miss a bowl game. Bobby may give up and retire if that happens. We’d need to lose this game and to Wake next week.
