• It appears as if Mike MacDougal is seeking employment outside of the District, but not too far, as his name comes up in a Baltimore Sun article by Dan Connolly entitled, "New targets flying low on O's radar, for now", which quotes the former Nationals' closer's agent stating that MacDougal is looking for late-inning work:
"'Mike will listen to anything. He likes to close, and he's willing to consider any important role late in the game,' said MacDougal's agent, Rex Gary. "He's in a position to help a club looking for bullpen help.'"

• Washington Times' writer Mark Zuckerman notes, in an article entitled, "Selig appoints committee to address on-field issues", that both LA Angels' Manager Mike Scioscia and former DC Skipper Frank Robinson were amongst 13 "current or former managers" named to a panel appointed by the Commissioner to look at a variety of "baseball's most important issues." Maybe Mr. Robinson can finally bump Scioscia back...

Darn it. Big contract though, so I’m kinda happy the Nats didn’t overpay.
