Around SBN: Tottenham's Plans for Northumberland Stadium Approved

I was unable to join in on the teleconference the Washington Nationals had with the non-traditional media this morning, though the Nationals were kind enough to provide me the opportunity to do so had I been available...but since I wasn't I asked Dave from the Nats News Network if he'd mind me just linking to his report on the phone interview with team President Stan Kasten, Ryan Zimmerman, Adam Dunn, Joe Beimel and Manager Manny Acta, and he was kindly willing to allow me to do so...

Nationals News Network's Dave Nichols' article entitled, "Quasi-Transcript of Nats Media Availability Day".

Young won’t make Nats’ Opening Day roster
“The Nationals first baseman will remain in Florida at the team’s extended spring training for at least three weeks, getting more at-bats and getting himself into better playing shape, according to a club source.”

Mr. Kasten implied as much...

he indicated a strong possibility of Meathook starting the season on the Major League DL.

for all the hoopla surrounding the DY on the 40-man, all it cost the Nats was WMP, and he wasn’t going to survive anyway. let’s hope extended spring training allows DY to “round” into acceptable shape to be a contributing switch-hitting pinch-hitter.

With no good news on Dmitri all Spring, the hoopla could be expected.

I suspected today was just a mercy start for him and all the positive cliched rhetoric was just to get to the season and he’d fade as a news story. Or, they really were going to listen to Ladson and add him as the extra guy (to justify his salary, justify a DFA, magic rejuvenation…..)
Then he smacks a homer that opens the heavens and adds a single. I don’t know if they can support a designated PH, when they need designated defensive players, but I hope he gets in shape to play.

Don't doubt DY...

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"
Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."
