Busy Day At Federal Baseball.com...The O's, Casto and Strasburg.
...It started with the interview I conducted with Marlins Today writer Alex Carver. Then it was my painful and ultimately unnecessary goodbye to Kory Casto, who ended up clearing waivers just moments after I published today's somber Game Thread. The news on Casto was reported here by Dave Nichols of the Nationals News Network, in a post entitled, "This just in...Washington Nationals Trim Roster as Opening Day Approaches"...and Dave from NNN also went to have a, "Taste Of Nationals Park", sampling the food that will be available at the Nationals' home this season...and after that we all tuned in for a glimpse of the future...Stephen Strasburg's PETCO Park outing against UC Davis...Now we're all waiting to see if sdsuaztec4 was at the game...?

Yes, an incredibly busy day. Great job on the interviews. I was surprised the roundtable was so civilized...
And if Casto’s waiver had been announced when it happened, both your goodbye post and Harlan’s wouldn’t have happened, and that would have been a shame.
Intriguing news that the Metsies signed Sheffield. Despite my concerns that Dukes might be an unhappy bench player or that our OF defence might be lacking, it cannot compare to the funhouse to come at Shea Citi…….. And three Natspos get kicked down a rung to accomodate it.

Dukes on the bench might not be a great idea...
..but he has been out-hit if not totally outplayed by Kearns this Spring, so it’s hard to argue with the decision, now let’s see Kearns be Mr. Kentucky Kearns, or old “Blue Grass” himself instead of the weak-elbowed barely above .200 hitter he was last year….
Ya know Church is thrilled they brought Sheffield in…I heard the Mets were going to play Tatis at second to accomodate the bat-waggling Sheff…

I am resigned to Kearns Part III, and an unhappy Dukes, I suppose. Go, Austin, Go.......
Church never gets the free ride he wants. He supposedly got a little huffy at even the suggestion of platooning with Tatis, before this happened.

I've got a game thread set to go...
…and I got an email from sdsuaztec saying his report is on the way today, so hold tight and get ready for the last game before the ’09 campaign officially begins…
Let’s Go Nats Go!!!
p.s. – Here’s what I’m thinking…Opening Day in DC against Philly…7th inning stretch, the singing and fun is over with…and the federalbaseball.com readers remain standing and start a "Let’s Go Nats Go" cheer to announce our presence with authority? Anyone else want to embarrass themselves?

My PIP will be working overtime tonight with the Nats and NCAA starting at the same time.
I just hope the commercials rarely happen at the same time.
