Who's Watching/Listening/Following The Nationals?
DC's Own DC Daniel Cabrera At High Noon vs the Marlins...
Having spent the entirety of his 5-year major league career in the American League East with the Baltimore Orioles before today's regular season debut in a Washington Nationals' uniform, DC's 27-year-old, 6'9'', right-handed starter Daniel Cabrera has faced the Nationals' NL East rivals, the Florida Marlins, only once, losing back on June 20, 2006, but striking out 9 in 5.2 IP in which he allowed 8 hits, 6 runs, 3 HR's...
• Dan Uggla, Matt Treanor and Alfredo "The Amazing" Amezaga all took Cabrera deep, with Hanley Ramirez 1 for 5 with a run scored in the leadoff spot, and Cody Ross and Jeremy Hermida, 2 for 3 and 1 for 3, respectively.
Florida goes for the season opening sweep with Florida-native, 6'8'', 22-year-old right-hander Chris Volstad on the mound. Volstad avoided the Nationals last season in the 15 starts he made after debuting on July 6, 2008. Drafted in the 1st Round of the '05 Draft, Volstad was (31-26) in 81 starts and 1 relief appearance in 4 years in the Marlins' system before joining the rotation...in his 15 Major League starts last year...Volstad was (6-4) with 2.88 ERA and 52 K's in 84.1 IP.
Cabrera vs Volstad at high noon in Florida...
DC Manager Manny Acta Is A Blogger...
Manny Acta's first post is up at his MASNsports.com blog welcoming Washington Nationals fans and asking for people to send questions...Acta talks about the Opening Day loss to the Marlins on Monday and the difference Adam Dunn makes in the Nationals' lineup...and apparently Mr. Acta's aware that some fans are already focused on a big event on the calendar this June...as Mr. Acta writes that there are several ways a team can acquire a No. 1 starter:
"You can always get a #1 in the free agent market or find him in the draft...LOL! I know what some of you guys are already thinking...Let's wait until we get closer to June to talk about it."
Manny Acta does know what I'm thinking...
The finale of the first series of the '09 season gets underway at 12:10 pm EST.

Do they have MLB in Second Life?

MLB in second life?
St. Pete is a catcher. St. Christopher is the Centerfielder. St. Andrew is at first base. St. John is at 2nd. 3rd bse goes to St. Ignasius, why because he’s got a cool name. St. Francis (my fav) is at right field. He’s got a flock of sheep hanging out for the kids. In Left field is the power hitting St. Paul and da Jesus is the pitcher. Don’t miss with da Jesus…

Different Second Life, dude......... where Emilio Milledge hit triples, and Dunn robs the hitters....
Kinda like this….. where the ordinary are transformed into the enchanting…..

U know what, I have an ingenious idea for 'Nats regarding their prospects
Try to trade for the best Marlin, and then the players the Marlins want in return should be promoted immediately to the major leagues, and in half a year you have a team that should be winning for at least another 2 seasons. Game over right?

Even the regular players don't bunt so well...
…something big needs to change in that department. Manny obviously doesn’t take that fundamental seriously.
I almost guarantee that when they actually practice, it’s against batting practice speed straight pitches. They need live pitching with real curving balls and fastballs.

Kearns hit a perfect shot, but due to the fact that the LF was playing short to keep the runner on 2nd from scoring he was in a good position to make the catch.
The ball tailed downwards but the LFer ran towards it and 1/2 dived with his glove in the down position to catch it right before it hit the ground. Would have been a great RBI!
