Nats are ALSO watching Crow!
If they manage to sign Strasburg and Crow… I’ll run around Nationals Park nude.

That's already in tomorrow's GameThread too...
I almost choked when I read it…Maybe Crow has a Cordero-esque not until you get rid of “Clownshoes” approach to dealing with DC again…

It's possible - Rizzo is a whole new clown to deal with.
i suspect a range of teams that wouldn’t have spoken to the Nats because of Bowden will now talk to Rizzo.

Looking at his list of guys that jumped straight to the majors
None of the pitchers were that great. All but one had career ERAs well into the 4s. And Hooton who was the best went many season before he was respectable. This in the early 1970s when pitching was more dominant. This list is not that encouraging for Strassburg.
frankly, I would rather Strassburg did some time at AAA first.

Olney's article talks reasonably about what options the Nationals have...give Strasburg the $ early get in a few starts and see you in August/September...
When Strasburg, Crow(laughs), Zimmermann, Martis and Lannan usher in a new era of Washington Nationals baseball…

I’d agree: send him to the minors. I don’t see much of an upside for his development in rushing him to the majors, but there are some pretty significant and obvious potential downsides. On the other hand, there’s not much downside to sending him to the minors to start out and that option eliminates the potential downside of sending him to the majors right away. Why take the risk?
Boras will insist on a 40-man roster spot, maybe a 25-man spot (especially if it's August when he signs).
And the Nats will look at ticket sales every 5th day…….
“What risk?……..” Rizzo points at his head…..

...and way more media credentials.
If we don’t sign him quick, I think he will have to be shut down. I don’t think he can pitch in games once a week, then take a coulpe months off and then be ready to pitch again. Only way he pitches is if he signs quick…and, no offense Aztec…I hope they don’t win their regional tourney.
Always pointing at his head that Rizzo...

Wouldn't Crowe be a funny pickup!
I think we need middle infielders more though
