Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Let's Start The Vote For Zim online Movement!!!

Let's get Zim elected to the All-Star game!!!  Everyone in eNats town (federal baseball) should sign up for and go to two or three other teams SB nation sites and post a Fanpost about why ZIM is the best thirdbasemen in baseball this year!  There are enough of us that if we each took 2-3 teams we could get most of the league covered.  Let's get Zim elected to the All-Star Game!!!! How about starting in the AL?!!!

Zim plays a great 3B...

but he’s no David Wright. Zim should be the No. 2 3B in the NL but Milwaukee and Atlanta may have something to say about that.

Obviously you have not loked at the MLB leaderboard lately

Zimm .339/.400/.583 that ops of .983 is 19 points higher than david wright’s .964, and only trails Evan Longoria among 3Bs.

Zimm has 11 homeruns whereas Wright has a measly 3. 3 would be the lowest ever for a third basemen at the all star game. Granted he has time to improve, but he is on pace for like 12-14 homers this season. Wright is not posting all star numbers at all.

Zimm has 37 runs and 35 RBI’s while Wright has 30 and 30. And Wright has much better guys hitting ahead of him.

lastly, according to Fangraphs defensive metric UZR. Wright has been WELL BELOW AVERAGE defensively this season at -7.8 whereas Zim is a gold glove quality +16.7 runs. In other words the defensive metrics aren’t even close.

http://www.fangraphs.com/winss.aspx?team=Mets&pos=3b&stats=fld&qual=0&type=0&season=2009&month=0

So Wright is better than Zim at nothing this season except steals. But those steals are not translating to more runs, so who cares. Wright is nowhere near the player of Zim this season. Its not close once you count gloves.

Are you just trolling around looking for arguments...don't think AA fans would appreciate that...

Sorry, nothing against Wright, but Zim's outplayed him in just about every way this season...

Keep in mind, Wrights CS's more than cancel out his SB this year...

Every caught stealing cancels out two successful steals (making an out is twice as bad as getting a free base is good).

Same place as Beltran, Omar Santos, Ramon Castro, Sheffield, Tatis and Daniel Murphy

Who all are hitting homers at a faster rate than Wright. And Reyes with 2 but only 147 ABs is hitting them as often per at bat. So the Ball park argument is worthless. If you can’t hit homers faster than Ramon Castro or Omar Santos then you suck!

Milwaukee has full stadiums every night and life long fans. Chipper has longevity. Wright has freaking NY on his side. Hell, I bet A-Roid was leading the vote before he even played in a game this season.

Honestly, there’s no freaking hope. I voted 50 times. If the streak had continued, Zimm woulda gotten enough press to get into the top 3, but, Nope.

just pick a few teams sign up for there site and leave a post... you never know

Zim is 1st in runs, 2nd in RBI’s, second in OPS, gold glove defensive player, 3rd in BA among all 3Bs in the game. Only Longoria has had a better year. Frankly mr. wright can’t even lick Zims boots this year once you figure defense into it.

let me know what teams you picked, so I can let others know.

This is very possible. But we as group have to make it happen

Guzman?

I was actually thinking of just putting together a stat package like the one you have above...

just let the #‘s speak for themselves and see how many people you can influence as opposed to an impassioned plea…I’ll get back to you on the teams, I’m going to think on that…see which bloggers would be best to appeal to…traffic/influence wise…

Zim's Up to Second!

1. David Wright Mets 685,972
2. Ryan Zimmerman Nationals 482,059
3. Bill Hall Brewers 440,159

Passed Bill Hall (Thank God), still got some work to pass the unworthy DWright
