Johan Santana Is Going To Try To Intimidate You Now...

Johan Santana

#57 / Pitcher / New York Mets

6-0

Mar 13, 1979

DC Starting Lineup...

  1. The Guzzzz - SS
  2. Nick "Two-Spot" Johnson - 1B (who is in trouble with federalbaseball.com)
  3. THE KIDS CALL HIM ZIM!! - 3B
  4. The Big Opposite Field - RF
  5. THE HAMMER - LF
  6. Ronnie B. - 2B
  7. J-Max - CF
  8. Wil "Blocker" Nieves - C
  9. The Kid They Call Zim(n) - With the 95 mph heat...

The Nationals vs Johan Santana...

In 6 starts and 42.0 IP against the Washington/Montreal franchise, Johan Santana is (5-1) with a 2.36 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP and a .245 BAA the Nationals/Expos, who haven't beaten the Mets' left-handed ace since 2007, when he was still plying his trade for the Twins. Santana's (4-0) against Washington as the Mets' ace, including three wins in 3 stars last season in 1 win already this year in which he held the Nationals to 1 run on 6 hits in 6.0 innings on the mound in NY. I'd say the Nationals are due...it's not like he's going to throw a complete game like Livan or anything, right? And anyway, Washington's throwing Zim(n)...

Jordan Zimmermann vs The Mets...

Jordan Zimmermann's done this already...Back on April 26, in front of 40,023 screaming Mets fans, the Nationals' 23-year-old rookie right-hander took the mound in Citi Field and beat New York, (mostly thanks to Oliver Perez, admittedly), but also because he allowed only 1 run on 6 hits in 5.1 IP, in which he walked 1 and K'd 5 before the Nationals' early '09 bullpen of Mike Hinckley, Garrett Mock and Kip Wells combined for 3.2 scoreless in an 8-1 Nationals' win.

Johan Santana vs the Nationals...

Ronnie Belliard - 4 for 23, .174 AVG, 2 RBI's, 7 K's.

Adam Dunn - 3 for 4, .750 AVG, 1 HR, 1 RBI.

Cristian Guzman - 8 for 14, .571 AVG, 1 2B.

Willie Harris - 1 for 9, .111 AVG, 1 2B.

Nick Johnson - 1 for 11, .091 AVG, 1 HR, 1 RBI.

Austin Kearns - 2 for 12, .167 AVG, 1 2B.

Luke Montz - 0 for 0, .000 AVG, 1 BB.

Josh Willingham - 2 for 8, .250 AVG, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI's.

Ryan Zimmerman - 5 for 15, .333 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI's, 2 BB, 2 K's, .412 OBP.

Let's start this game with the DEAD EYES J-Zimm.

I love the interview in the pregame show….I wish I could face their best players.

Santana is very beatable. He gives up one run every six innings. All we need is a shutout. WooHoo.

I guess no one's watching the Nationals, since there's no way they can beat Johan Santana...

hello eNatstown

Dibs wrong no way that was a homer. it defied the laws of physics. If it hit the wall its spin would have gone back the other way and the ball would have bounced towards he field.

… in fact Dibs’ making the wrong argument… sez the proff that it fell straight down is proof of a homerun.
In fact, it’s proof that it didn’t hit the sign.

Hey, Nats fans.

I must concur with you fans; Daniel Murphy did not hit a two-run home run this evening. Such a declaration by the umpire is purely gratuitous. Lucky for my Mets, eh?

P.S. Whenever I watch the MASN feed, I cannot help but notice the ridiculous “defining moments” with , mostly, Northern Virginian fans. Why are two of those mentioned commercials pejorative towards the Mets? Why is it that Washington Nationals fans have this peculiar fixation with the New York Mets in the NL East? Why not disdain the Phillies instead? Why not fixate over the Marlins or Braves, as both clubs are in the bottom of the NL East cellar with you guys? I don’t mean to be smug at all, but geez. Why the obsession?

If my Mets promptly win tonight, and they most likely will, they shall be in first place (as the Phillies’ loss to the Marlins looks imminent).

Mostly because there aren’t any good “defining moments” against the Phillies, but at least this Nats fans hates the Phillies more.

Kearns the Anonymous Juicer? Let the rumours begin!!!

“Look at that guy’s arms,” joked Austin Kearns, motioning to teammate Josh Willingham. “Ask him about the steroids.”

Kearns, turning serious, then said, “I don’t really have a reaction. I don’t know who it is, I don’t know what he’s talking about or who he’s talking about. I just heard about it five minutes ago. I can’t even remember the guy’s name.”
