John Lannan - "Saint" more into the video aspect...likes to talk video, statistical analysis, McCatty is more about feel and what you see...Couldn't ask for a better pitching coach than they have now.

Detwiler - My problem was giving up hits, was throwing strikes early, but (strikes were) too good, needs to throw more quality strikes...

Any Draft Day Memories?
Stammen - It was one of those deals where I was just happy to be drafted, and get the opportunity to play major league baseball.
Zimmermann - Really excited, didn't take too long to sign, a week or so, and headed right to Vermont...
Detwiler - Had no idea where I was going, when he heard it was the Nationals he was pretty excited, knowing he could come up quicker in DC.
Lannan - Happy to be drafted, and get going and start professional career.
Any Advice For Strasburg?
Stammen - Stay humble, keep a level head and keep working hard, doing what he's been doing...

Very Winable game for the Nats
Harang has a tendency to get lite up from time to time and it’s very possible Dunn takes him deep tonight. In something like his last 9 starts he has allowed a HR. Lets hope the trend continues tonight.

I have to figure they already have the money in the budget for Kearns' contract.
They might as well keep him if they can get more for NJ.
On the other hand, if financials are so tight they need to trade Kearns to have a shot at signing Strasburg ….well, first off I don’t believe that, and secondly that’s a different ballgame. I don’t think they’re the same budget, anyway.

Just saw the highlights from last nights game.
NO WAY that is a strike 3 to Kearns… the strike 3 to Dunn looked closer on TV than on Gameday (that nasty slider looked like is was closer to catching the plate).

I could see why the slider to Dunn was called a strike it fell through/across zone, fell way out...but the Kearns K was not a strike...

UPDATE | 10:46 p.m.] The grounds crew walked onto the field at 10:34 p.m., removed the tarp and drained the excess water from the field. Ten minutes later, almost all of the workers left the field. And just a few minutes later, the members of the Reds bullpen strolled off of the field. Nobody in the press box is quite sure what is happening. I will update you when I have more information.

Heh--that's what made me think of this.

He had a quote in the paper early in the 2008 season...
…I don’t recall exactly how it went, but talking about the slow start, and everyone had to try harder and not be squirrels (or something like that). The name stuck, at least for Mrs. D. Raccoons must be the terror of squirrels, I imagine.

So I take the wife to a concert and still get home in time to see some Nats baseball after midnight… thank rain delay!
BTW, I know the Nats attendance has been down most because of their play, but the weather HAS to have something to do with it. If it’s not an unseasonably cold day (early in the season) it’s a horribly rainy day (recently).
