New Adam Dunn Poem

Pain and misery can also be a creative inspiration.  Yesterday we posted this poem about Adam Dunn at Bardball.com, a site for baseball poetry , fresh daily.  Check us out if you're interested.

Truth Endures

By Stuart Shea

Seasons come and go.
Shadows cross the land.
But in the passing parade of humanity,
One thing will always go as planned:
Adam Dunn will miss the cutoff man.

We're an equal opportunity offender, so if you think up any nasty limericks about the Mets, send them to the website.

That last line got me, didn't read ahead, wondered where you were going and that was just funny, thanks.

Much needed after drubbing…

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"
Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

Maybe that

That's what this season needs...... more poetry to ease the pain.....

Nice

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Some pitchers throw strikes,
The Nationals don’t.

"Baseball is like church. Many attend; few understand."

Classic.

We could replace line 3 with many things…but your original line three is the best.

“Some teams field,”

“Some teams throw to the right base,”

“Some teams’ backup catcher can tag runners,”

Poet Laureate of NatsTown Mezza and his trusty sidekick SanchotheNATSfan!!!

“There once was a LF from Nantucket….
When the ball was hit he said…………(edited)”

"The legacy that was spawned oh-so-many years ago in DC is somewhere in that line-up card each night."

Line 4 sounds better as

“Wish the nationals do”

"What you know is often the enemy of what you can learn" Bill James

hehe.

It’s not meant to rhyme… on purpose. (It’s a broken poem…much like the Nats Bullpen).

"Baseball is like church. Many attend; few understand."

Ok a quick one

I hate the Yankees
I hate the Mets
I care that they suck
But I love the Nats

another

You think were bad
Playing us is fun
But our young pitchers
Will get you in the long run

endless summer
burning hot and wet,
But the Nats are playing
so I am happy yet

My fave Nats haiku from last season...

Odalis Perez,
Nats’ left-handed soft-tosser.
Ryan Howard’s bat.

The Nats suck so much
Poem writing is more fun
Strasburg will save us

You guys mind if I take those 3 haiku

…and post them on Bardball.com? We try to get snapshots of every team through the year, and the last poem was very funny.

Knock yourself out.

Just give our talented writing staff credit. :-)

by RoscoeNats on Jun 25, 2009 11:02 AM EDT up reply actions

I'll give individual credit..

and mention the blog. I feel like putting it up today, because if the Nats go on a huge win streak, it’ll screw things up.

Baseball is so cool

Football rarely leads to such poetry

There once was a man named Acta,
Who signed a one-year contracta,
     His team was pretty bad,
     Making all of us sad,
I guess there’s always nextyearta.
