Ed Price's Tweet Says Nationals Discussed Trade For Lastings Milledge...
I wrote a FANSHOT back in the second week of June about an article by SI.com writer Jon Heyman entitled, "Surprise Performances (cont.)" in which Mr. Heyman had written:
"Word is there's some trade talk going on involving Lastings Milledge. So if he goes, he'll have two organizations he can rip."
Now Ed Price, who writes for MLB Fanhouse, puts out a note via twitter, which yes, is unfortunately called a "tweet" in which Mr. Price "reports":
"#Pirates-#Nationals have been discussing OF swap: Nyjer Morgan for L. Milledge. Talks stalled. Pit asked for RHP Craig Stammen as well."
If you didn't listen to the audio I recorded last weekend with Manny Acta, check it out HERE, cause Nyjer Morgan's name did actually come up...

Yes and No
Im all for trading Blastro. And Nyjer might be a good fit – heaps of speed and could be a good lead off man (but is iffy with the bat…doesnt this sound familiar to us?). But there is no way id throw Strammen into the mix as he’s shown he’s got some real promise for us. In fact, I’d figure someone like Stammen or Detwiler might be a great trade for MLB ready now talent…rather than a AAA outfielder with speed. Although it would be a tough call to let either go.

I'd say No... he plays LF...
the question of whether or not Nyjer Morgan is, or could be, a good offensive player. There’s no need to address that question any more. He’s not.
Using FanGraphs’ UZR, he’s saved the most runs of any defender this year and he’s got one of the highest UZR/150 rates of anyone in either league. He’s on pace to save the Pirates somewhere in the vicinity of 25 runs in the outfield this year.

Franklin Gutierrez says hi
But I understand and appreciate what you’re getting at. Really, from what I’ve seen Nyjer is simply Endy 4.0. There’s value in a guy like that if he’s properly utilized – hitting at the tail end of the lineup (unless you think he can OBP something that’s not god-awful), put him in CF and let the range take him away – but since the Nats would probably bat him leadoff and put him in LF, pass.

Not that I want to keep Lasto, but if it means we have to give away Stammen...no thanks.

And Nyjer in CF may be Lasto Vista...... Nats' talent evaluating seems little more than playing "Spin the Big Wheel" at a casino.
“properly utilized” is the operative term here, and history has shown little of that either…
