Around SBN: Auto Racer Jeffrey Earnhardt Excited to Make MMA Debut

Washington Post writer Chico Harlan is reporting, in an article entitled, "Tavarez DFA'd; Kensing Returning", that the Nationals DFA'd struggling right-handed reliever Julian Tavarez after today's loss to the Cubs, calling Logan Kensing up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Tavarez's place in the bullpen.

Great..... retread Logan to the rescue...see if you don't outright release these slugs, they'll be back with their 12+ ERA..

Raise your hand if you thought this round of Julian was going turn out any better than it had for his last, oh……three or four teams…

And is leaving guys like that out to destroy games time and again the only way to force the Nats FO to admit their mistakes, conclude their "evaluatin’ ", and make a damn decision???

kinda like I'm gonna keep putting him in until

the FO idiots can’t stand to see him anymore, cause I’ve felt like that for a month or so

I suspected that was Manny's way of forcing an issue, but I guess it's systemic.

Helluva way for a manager to make his point to his GM…or owner.

As much as I wanted him to succeed, because he really does seem like a good guy, he just didn’t have the stuff this season. Although this did take a bit longer than it should have, I’m glad it happened. Rizzo gains more and more confidence every day.

Yeah. He didn’t try to suck…none of them do…but he did suck.

Let’s hope Kensing has improved his accuracy and confidence.

If Ryzim checks in, maybe he can give us a scouting report on Kensing…

It’s certainly time we gave some of the kids a run. I see JD Martin is getting a start or 3 (Olsen is turning into Shawn Hill). I’ve never seen a bullpen quiet like this one where its an absolute scramble to get through a few innings. Now Mock is looking terrible… sigh

Rizzo laughs aloud at the deal..... he points to star acquisition.Logan Kensing

“….submariner Cla Meredith in return. He was 4-2 with a 4.17 ERA and a 20/13 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings for the Padres.

“He gets a lot of ground balls and can pitch every other day,” O’s president Andy MacPhail said Sunday evening. “The ground ball ratio becomes more important later in the summer in our ballpark.”

just watched the White Sox do a Nats impersonation

bases loaded, 1 out, rookie walks in 2 runs, wild pitches 1 in, next guy gives up a hit, now 5-1 Orioles

Brewers Land Felipe Lopez for two minor-leaguers......

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/brewers-land-felipe-lopez.html

Lopez, .301/.364/.412 with six home runs, 25 RBI and six stolen bases……

Funny, no mention in the comments of character, clubhouse guy, “going about his business”……. what the heck are these teams doing trades for, anyway????

Le Mal des Expos!!

You’ve heard me rant about it before. The curse builds in power as the number of former Expos shrinks. Think about it! The Nats were best in 2005, when they were the most Expos-heavy. As the ex-Expos traded away or DFAed, the power of the curse built until today, when the team has but a single (I think) former Expo in the form on Nick Johnson, and struggles with a sub-.300 win percentage…

The curse will not end until all the former Expos are gone...

…sadly, we must trade NJ. We might look at dealing Casto, too, just to be sure.

If he had hit 301

Bowden would have resigned him for 6 years, with $15m a year… he would have then reverted back to a 240 hitter and we would have been stuck with the goat for 5 years.

The fielding hasn't been good...... I read "alligator arms" in reference to his throwing...

So yeah, it could have been much, much worse around here…

Arizona got a AAA lifer and an A-ball pitcher…….. For all you trade-maniacs, that’s what you get for your MLB starter… DNTNJ..

Huh Huh Huh....sweep. If there's a sweep...aww screw it...you know the rest.

Teams playing poorly come to DC to get better. Carpenter called it Thursday night before the first pitch. He’s dialed in on the Nat effect.

That’s part of the curse. Not only do the Nats suck, they help struggling teams feel better about themselves and gain confidence.
