"The Nationals were among the teams that scouted Giants left-hander Jonathan Sanchez against the Braves on Monday night. The Giants, looking for a bat, have had interest in Nationals first baseman Nick Johnson. (Josh) Willingham could be another possibility..."

In my opinion, the Nationals would be stupid to trade for starting pitching, unless they’re planning on turning him into a reliever. It’ll be a year or two until the Nats’ starters are starter caliber, but giving away other pieces of the puzzle to accelerate that process is a waste.

When I asked Manny Acta on his blog what closers...
…he saw coming up through the system, he made the point that you never know which pitchers will end up starters vs relievers, and Mock and Clippard are perfect examples of that…if Sanchez was actually available and you were determined to trade Hammer or NJ, you could do worse…

If the Giants would, I would... A homegrown talent? Would DC care?

DC would care a lot.
I’d love to have Burris.

He can run. Can't hit. OPB .328 is that enough and can his glove justify the trade.

No
What the hell are we going to do with Emmanuel Burris? He’s batting like below .240 I believe. Sure he’s fast and a local guy but how does he benefit us any more than morgan, dukes, bernadina, maxwell, harris, or even patterson for that matter?

He's a 24-year-old middle IF'er?

Id grab him
Guz is going to go soon (and is in serious decline)… what are the SS options? Gonzo is a good player but we’ll see how he goes. Maybe Gonzo then turns into a good 2B…
Anyway…its all bit moot…

Here is one for you all
The Reds, one of the few teams willing to move pitching, are not thinking of conceding. Their goal is to move some of their more expensive starters and/or relievers to create opportunities for younger prospects.
The problem is, right-handed starters Aaron Harang and Bronson Arroyo and right-handed closer Francisco Cordero are too high-priced for virtually every prospective suitor. Harang and Arroyo are signed through 2010 and Cordero through ’11 at salaries ranging from $9.5 million to $12 million.
Gosh, I’d love to trade Guzman for Cordero. It’s slightly more payroll ($1.5m next year) and we’d have proven relief help. Shame they arent after a SS.

Ladson
Also had this – it’s practically a press release from Rizzo on where trade talks are at.
