Who is Cory Sullivan?

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"

Once upon a time

He was the Rockies CF after they dealt Preston Wilson. Never figured to have much of a ceiling, and never really achieved much of anything, though.

I knew I remembered the name...wasn't at computer though...

This ragtag bunch of B-Mets should not beat the Nationals…

55? That's ambitious...maybe if Flores comes back...

Fine, 50.

But you get my point.

by Graysnail on Jul 22, 2009 7:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

While I agree that it's time to trade most of the guys with trade value

The fact that JW (yes… Josh Willingham) still has two arbitration years remaining means that he should be the absolute most valuable trade chip the Nats have (possible exception of Dunn). More importantly, those two arbitration years mean that there’s a good chance he could still be somewhat affordable in 2011, and would still be under club control.

by bluelineswinger on Jul 22, 2009 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree.

I’m not saying unload him for the first piece of half-baked meat out there, but if people are willing to pay for him + his club control years, might as well. I don’t see him playing for a contender anyway if he sticks around.

I just don't buy the Dunn rumors, unless even the casual fan would be blown away by the return...

Assuming that W = Willingham

I agree with you and the RZO. He’s under contract, why trade him…well that is why trade First-Half Hammer…it seems like something’s wrong in the second-half…

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"
Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

Let's put it this way in the Hammer/NJ debate

Player A: .268/.367/.480
Player B: .274/.399/.452

Player A has a career OPS of .847
Player B has a career OPS of .851

Player B is a free agent at year’s end, and he’s making $5 million this year
Player A has two years of arbitration eligibility remaining and is making a little less than $3 million this year

Player B (Johnson) is still perceived to have more trade value in the marketplace. Seems to me like the ultimate no-brainer if you were to trade one or the other.

This is a defining moment right here

If we can hold a 2 run lead for the win against a team in the downs… im delcaring a new era.

If we play to past form, the Bullpen will walk 3 and give up a homer run.

Since he’s only going 150-160 innings anyway, we’re gonna play it safe and shut him down for a couple weeks and then he can play deeper into August or September. Discomfort. Not too detailed. If we were in a playoff race, we’d probably let him pitch through it.
