This Lineup is all wrong
Adam Dunn is not a good leadoff man.
Tonight we watched Adam Dunn lead off in all three of his at-bats, this happens far too often. Dunn's 40+ homeruns will do no good if no one is on base for him to drive in. The high on base percentage hitters in this lineup need to be hitting ahead of Dunn. You cannot have Guz and Zimmerman in the 2 and 3 spots routinely making outs, it makes it impossible for our top HR/ slg% guy to drive in runs. That being said, I believe the 1-4 on this team should be as follows:
1. Nyjer Morgan
2. Nick Johnson
4. Adam Dunn
Nyjer Morgan isn't a great on base guy, but he is decent enough and he has speed in the leadoff spot. Zimmerman is underperforming right now, and while he isn't a terrible choice for the 3 spot, I think Willingham is definetly the better hitter.
Runs aren't created by themselves, Zimmerman got off to an unbelievably hot start, but to be honest, his numbers over the past month or so put him much closer to the hitter his baseball card tells us he is. Let's give the big man the most oppurtunities possible with RISP. RIght now we are not maxamizing our potential to score runs.
p.s. Guzman has the audacity to tell Rigglemen he dosen't want to hit 6th? This guy is probably the worst everyday hitter on the team... get him outta there

I'm with you there. Zim would have logically been a 5th or 6th hitter on a normal club coming up.
But, I liked Hammer batting cleanup and Dunn 5th….. although that leaves the huge hole at 2 or 3 depending where you put Nick with Guzman #2 or traded.
Nyjer, Nick, Dunn, Hammer, Zim makes sense to me as well, not considering the hurt feelings…

Guzman out to heat up in No. 2 spot
Guzman looking to rediscover top form for Nats
Guzman, looking to snap out of a recent funk
Guzman, strikes out looking….
However, Guzman is still in a slump.
Guzman went 4-for-28 with three RBIs as the No. 6 hitter

well
he’s a bad hitter no matter where you put him, I just don’t want him hitiing in front of the RBI guys.. it’s counter-productive. I wouldn’t mind willingham 4, Dunn 5, either. But as you said, there is a spot in the 3 hole. If it were my team, I might bring dukes up here to hit 3..then ou could go johnson, dukes, willingham, Dunn, or vice versa.
I’m tired of hearing about his attitude(dukes)…. he can swing the bat, he can get on base… get him up here… everything else we can work on.

I tired of hearing Dukes was intense in the clubhouse, had to go, calmness was the rule, etc....
Mark Lerner: “We will be asking players to increase their intensity on the field and in the clubhouse.”
Ugh…

man, how do u guys get the lineups so quick?
itd really help me for fantasy… anyway
batting johnson behind adam dunn makes zero sense… although its not as bad if willingham is behind all of them… still, nowhere close to ideal…
Bottom line? This is the padres folks, with a slumping Adrian Gonzalez no less… this is a team that the Nationals are better than, records not withstanding.
Why does guzman comand so much authority? Because he hits 300? he’s atrocious.

Nats Journal or MASN usually post the lineups as soon as they're available.....
As near as I can figure, you take your slumpys and give them the most ABs…. then, you take your high OBA guys and drop ’em down so they can get some RBI chances with the tugboats in front of them.
Then, give your hot hitters the day off to feel good about themselves and start your backups who are a combined 2-31 over the past week to get some work in…….
This, so your struggling AAA pitchers can freak out over who they get playing behind them…
Real baseball men like Riggles know how all this stuff works…

christian guzman
is a prime example of how batting average can mislead… This is a guy who’s hit .300 for a number of years swinging over his head and at his feet…. After a while, it has to even out…

no Dunn Tonight, are you serious?
over the past 7 days the guy is 455/536/864
no, im not making that up
I thought the whole idea was to give guys a rest when they are slumping… or at least not red, blazing hot.
what a joke that is
