Nationals News, Walkoff Kearns Edition
I'll admit it. When I saw Austin Kearns coming up with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, I started to wonder whether Beimel was going to pitch again in the 11th. Thankfully, I didn't have to wonder long -- Kearns delivering that hit was incredible, moving the Nationals to 4-7 (?) in extra innings. Kearns has maintained a good attitude all season and even got a little misty-eyed (maybe?) in the postgame interview. I have my fingers crossed that this is the beginning of a turnaround for Kearns.
If you're in town on August 8 (BOBBLEHEAD NIGHT!), please consider giving blood at the park. And if saving lives isn't reason enough to donate blood, you get a shirt, two tickets to an upcoming home game and the chance to see Jordan Zimmermann.
The Nationals are finally getting some high-profile fanhood!
Dmitri Young has torn his quad, and is out for at least the rest of this year.
Nats Farm Authority have upgraded their Big Board, giving us a look at who is coming down the pipeline for the Nats.
'Duk, at Big League Stew, has assembled a nice collection of Rickey Henderson pictures and quotes. He was a bit before my time, but he sure was exciting to watch!

Heh, they had the "Flex Cam" between innings at the game...
…you know, they show clips of Arnold from the old days, or that one scene in Anchorman and the like, and then cut to shots of fans posing. The last cut? Batista, holding his baby and looking all bad-ass.

So what's the feeling now?
Will Nick and Hammer be with DC come Saturday? Just taking the pulse…

Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

Trades we're talking trades...
I think the #1 candidate is the Hammer…but I have to admit we’re more like a real team with no hint of trades talk coming from the offices of Mr. Rizzo. He seems to be playing the GM game the right way…

I just saw that
Its stupid we shouldn’t be making GM decisions from that angle, this season doesn’t reflect Rizzo nearly as much as it does, well you know who I’m talking about…
I really don’t think we are going to go 15-49 to finish the season and I don’t think NJ would make that big of a difference over the period of time… olney is a chump
Yeah..when he said 45 wins, my first reaction was...SWEET...only 117 losses.

At one point they've got to figure this year is this year and ...
…next year is next year… Free agency is free agency and winter meeting trade will happen in December… Trades got to be made now. We get more bang for the buck now vs Winter meetings…
Armchair trade talk from D Magazine...about the Rangers...and the Hammer
http://insidecorner.dmagazine.com/2009/07/27/armchair-gm-roundtable-trade-deadline-edition/
These people…who I do not know from a hole in the ground, come to an agreement on what it could take to bring the Hammer to the Rangers.
Most of their chat is about Halladay.
