• Atlanta Braves' outfielder Matt Diaz was on XM's Inside Pitch with Jeff Joyce and Kevin Kennedy on Monday when he was asked about how ATL Manager Bobby Cox prepares the team for facing "a team like" the Nationals:
"They have had their way with us over the past two years, and it's been frustrating, so all he has to do, and he has reminded us, that they are not to be taken lightly, especially by us, you know, when it seemed like everyone else in the league was beating them, they were beating us. So maybe now that they're beating everyone else in the league, it's our turn to beat on them a little bit, so we'll hope that's what happens this next two-games series..."
• Last season, when the Nationals were 59-102, Washington was 6-12 against Atlanta, though they swept a late August series against the Braves and split their last four-game set of 2008. So far this season, DC's beat ATL in 4 of 9 games, including 2 of the last 3 each of the last two times the Braves visited Nationals Park.

Neuf. Les Expos est finit.
Lannan vs Hanson… Should be a great pitching matchup.
Also, former Nat Aaron Boone back in baseball less than 4 months after open heart surgery. Good for him.
Go Nats!!!!!!!!! ( 9 exclamation points)
If it wasn't for the Expos, you'd never have drafted Zimmerman...
…that was an Expos’ pick.

Pure Genius...
Diaz…!!!? Good Thing He Crushes Lefties ‘Cause His Logic Seems Confused(and Erroneous Statistically…)!!!
Hate To Be The Voice Of DoomAndGloom But The Streak Ends Tonight. Hot As The Nats Have Been The Braves Have Been Nearly As Hot Since The Break. Plus, Though Their Lineup Is Left-Heavy, They’ve Been Beating Up On Lefties(Kershaw Excluded(and Lannan’s No Kershaw)). Chipper’s Status May Be The Crux of the Contest…
Zimmermann.vs.Hanson…? How ’Bout StrassBunny.vs.Hanson…???

On the other hand, at least they’re skipping the middle man with ZImmermann this time instead of the “let’s try to not have surgery” or the random forearm exploratory stuff they put Patterson through.

I was always more of a Hill guy than I was anything else.
I saw him start two games in a week right after he spent most of the season injured; oddly, Jon Rauch blew both of those games in the 8th inning too. And yes, Hill pitched a heck of a game, but that should go without saying.

Granted, this was the early-90s Braves announcers – smug and self-certain to the extreme. Once I got older, I realized Skip Caray was incredibly sarcastic and the games got fun to watch, but the hatred was still there.
