I have mixed feelings about that.

I’d rather see him spend a year, or at least half a season, learning the major-league game in the minors. Don’t rush it.

I kinda feel that they may start him late – sort of like J-Zim…or maybe later in the year and let him get his feet wet at the start in the minors…althou there will be pressure to start him from the get go.

It's got to be fairly uncommon to have a runner on 3rd with no outs...

…it’s probably more uncommon for the Nats, but I think it’s probably uncommon for good teams, too. Oh, I just bought myself more math to do, didn’t I?

A guy could be on third easily with no outs if others were on base too. Are we saying only on third?

by RoscoeNats on Aug 25, 2009 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, hence ---3.

-23 and 1-3 are more common, and I think even 123 is too.

--3 = runner on 3rd.

-23 is runners on 2nd and 3rd.

I actually meant all cases with a runner on third and no outs...

…possibly with runners on other bases. Each case that included a runner on third and no outs had 11 or less PA associated with it (out of something over 3000 PA in the first half) for the Nats.

3 games ago, they started a 4 game series with Durham, who they were 1.5 games back of. They split the 1st 2 and lost the 3rd one. Currently they trail 5-3 in game 4. If they win, they will be 1.5 out. A loss= 3.5 games out…. In the division, they trailed by 3.5 games to SWB heading into today. SWB trails 4-0 in the 9th so assuming a SWB loss, the Chiefs will be either 3.5 or 2.5 games out….. They have 13 games remaining and 4 more with SWB including 2 starting to tomorrow
