Balester to go down to make room on the 25-man?
At least according to Roscoe in the game thread—where did you hear it? Ladson didn’t have it in his story, although it makes the most sense.

Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

Great!
I thought (and probably the only one) that we should have grabbed him during the last offseason! He’s a good guy and im sure he’ll make a bit of difference out there on the mound. Hopefully he gets the couple of really good starts in early and takes the pressure off Lannan and the kids.
Shame about Baly – he’s not taken his chances.

Oh yippee skippee! Livo's coming back!
Per Yahoo and MLB tv, Nats signed Livan today and he will start Wednesday’s night game.
I’ve always liked Livan…and he’s wanted to get back to DC for a couple of years.
I figured that was Bally’s last game though he didn’t get much run support in his last start. he was just too unreliable.

Bally stats
He’s leading the pack!
He lets far too many pitches stay up in the zone, and gives up far too many homers. In seven starts this year (30-1/3 IP), Balester served up a whopping 10 of ’em.
So that ratio prompted a statspass.com querry.
Does any MLB pitcher this year with 25+ IP have a higher home-runs-allowed-per-9IP ratio?
Nope.
Balester’s HR/9IP (2.97) is poorest. Only 15 pitchers have ratios higher than 2.00. One is Logan Kensing (2.03).

Do we need to discuss the curse of the Expos anymore?
I figure since he left and came back, the curse was probably broken.

Maybe the curse of the Mets?
