Game 146: Cole Hamels is no Joe Blanton...
via fangraphs.com
Another steady march to failure, punctuated only by a pair of base-loaded outs in the 7th to Mike Morse (-0.084) and Josh Bard (-0.174) that crushed a nascent rally. Ross Detwiler (+0.129) didn't have a terrible outing, while Elijah Dukes (+0.084) couldn't do it all himself. Josh Willingham (-0.030), aka Crappingham von Slumpenstein, manages to get his first hit of the series (how quickly we find new g0ats now that Kearns is off the 25-man...). Didja see those great plays Ryan Zimmerman (-0.021) had? If he doesn't get the GG, the thing is a total fraud.

Slumpenstein..........should've traded him when he had his Two-Week Streak...
Does there always have to be someone to step into Kearns’ shoes?
''...we were tied for first place for the wild card, and we can't have September call-ups. We couldn't do any trades. They didn't want us to win.''
Guz came in second to last at -.093.....

I’ve got a great pic coming…
Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"
Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

I can't believe this team is worse than last year.
I think it’ll be worth it to pay a premium for good coaches…base coaches, bench coach, manager. PPL who have held these positions on good teams.
I saw the Zim catch on the tarp......... I wanted to see the double play...
Too many Phillies highlights…

The 5-3 DP was so smooth it took me a second to realize he'd stepped on third as he was throwing.
Beautiful, beautiful baseball.
Friend of Dukes and Desmond #3
Still didn't make the highlights....... I'll have to scan the condensed game...

Got our catcher...quick.
According to a press release the Mariners have traded catcher Jamie Burke to the Nationals for cash. Burke has appeared in 184 games in parts of seven big league seasons. He was originally drafted in the ninth round of the ’93 draft by the Angels. The Nationals will be his fifth organization.
Nice name........Old and useless, should fit right in...

Ex-big leaguer Chris Snelling capped a rally from a 4-0 deficit with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
No Nats on any of these rosters…
Who the hell is this guy and why isnt he playing for us?
Six-foot-8, 277-pound righthander Dushan Ruzic (Reds) threw seven shutout innings of relief to hold the Italians in check while the Aussie offense rallied.
Sounds like a Rauch/CC Sabathia clone. I’ll have to do some research…
Padilla walked into the Nats' clubhouse for the first time and said, "My God. I'm in heaven."
Sounds like he’d fit in fine…
