Game 154: Errors + Rain + Bullpen implosion = 2009 in microcosm
What happened to Garrett Mock (-0.333)? In spite of circus-music-worthy plays and a poor start, between an unexpectedly-strong Zack Segovia (+0.108) and some pop from the bat of Mike Morse (+0.108), things looked within reach... until the rest of the bullpen (-0.076) came out. NatsTown is a ghost town.......
I’m at a loss for words, too, Dunn…
I read that after Villone’s scoreless start, all batters are hitting like Pujols off of him……some 1.000+ OPS…
Harper Stakes magic number is 3. The Nats would have to go 6-2 and the Pirates lose out to miss on the #1 pick next year…
Mezza: ''Are we there yet?'' ...Roscoe: "In baseball hell? Yes we are."
"I did not want to take Pete Orr's bat out of the lineup."
I went away for the weekend...
Hoped things would be better… they are not. They are not.
Padilla walked into the Nats' clubhouse for the first time and said, "My God. I'm in heaven."
Nope, and regressing back to questionable lineup choices makes it seem.....well, questionable.
Maybe it has to play out like this, but confidence has just eroded too far and I don’t imagine the players have any better handle on it than we do….

This team is horrible.
They may not realize it, but they are just counting the days till the season ends. It’s a hopeless feeling. Nothing to play for and the end is in sight.
Honestly, the Nyjer Morgan loss killed the season. Don’t get me wrong…the season was shot already but the team at least gave a crap before and there was some energy and pride.
Yes, that exposed the big flaw in the roster again...or several of them...

I trust Rizzo to build a team. Plan number...um...I've lost count. But Rizzo's first crack at it in the offseason.
As long as he gets everyone back on the same page......
And gets the players to believe in the plan…And a little security and stability.

...and a set lineup.
If Nyjer and Jesus are healthy and Rizz can buy some pitching so the young bad pitchers can go back to the minor leagues…good things can happen.
I agree.
The pitching needs an overhaul to say the least… guys like Mock IMO have been exposed. They are not major league material (or at least not yet). We need two veterans and a closer of note to make this happen. And then they need to spend 3/4 of the Spring working on defense.

+++ on the set lineup and working defensively together.
This random auditioning has to stop….
