Washington Nationals: Friday Night Notes - Randy Winn, Aroldis Chapman.
• In a mid-December Twitter message, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick linked the Washington Nationals and free agent outfielder Randy Winn, explaining that Washington considered the 35-year-old outfielder an option because they, "like Winn's versatility, and think he could be a positive influence on Elijah Dukes." But the question then, as it remains now apparently, was whether or not a Nats' outfield that already featured Josh Willingham, Nyjer Morgan, Dukes and Willie Harris, (not to mention Roger Bernadina and Justin Maxwell) could find enough AB's to make it worth Winn's while...
Earlier this afternoon, Mr. Crasnick was back with another Twitter message, which read:
"San Diego, Arizona and Washington among potential fits for Winn. He's looking for the place where he can get the most ABs."
• *MLB.com's Bill Ladson looked into the rumors and reported via Twitter that he, "...spoke to OF Randy Winn. He said he has not heard anything about the Nationals having interest in him."
• Dave Nichols from the NatsNewsNetwork posted a FanShot tonight with his take on the Winn rumors.
• Also on Twitter was SI.com's Jon Heyman (@SI_JonHeyman), who posted an update on the Aroldis Chapman chase in a Tweet which included your Washington Nationals in a hash-tagged list of teams who remain interested in the 21-year-old left-handed free agent pitcher:
"#bluejays have decent shot at arolidis chapman after bidding $20 mil. #nats, #marlins, #a's #redsox, #angels also may be players"
• There was no Twitter speculation related to one move the Washington Nationals made today. LHP Victor Garate, acquired from LA for Ronnie Belliard late last season, was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the 40-man roster for new DC reliever Matt Capps, who officially signed with Washington on Wednesday.

How many positive influences does Dukes need?
With Garate being outrighted to Syracuse does that mean he is still under the Nats control or does he become a minor league free agent?
Depends on whether he has minor league options left.
We need Winn like a another Kearns. I hope it turns out to be very much a false rumour.

Agreed
I don’t see room in the outfield for WInn. Let him pass and give Maxwell and Bernadina those at bats.
By the same token,
I don’t know why Winn would want to come to DC, given that he’s looking for at bats.
Winn makes no sense unless there are other plans...
Trade Hammer? I don’t necessarily think moving Willingham will bring any great return…but Winn only makes sense if someone goes…

I bet the reason for this rumor was to get J-Max and Bernie to start training a little harder BEFORE spring training.
Chiefs players
Logan Kensing and Marco Estrada named to Chiefs all decade team
Last years manager, Tim Foli was manager and hitting coach Darnell Coles was hitting coach of decade.
