Giant Shiny Silver Balls at Nats Park
You can see the video here. read the story here.
Apparently the Park will get an artistic upgrade along the North side of the stadium as giant silver baseballs are to be placed outside the stadium. the baseballs will be displayed in a way that one direction looks like a sinking fastball being thrown, the other direction will look like a line drive off a bat. Pretty cool. And i find it hilarious that there isn't any media coverage while they artists/construction workers were adding it to the stadium (probly cuz it was too cold).

I look forward to seeing this in person
It’ll be nice to have the ballpark looking a bit more distinctive and unique.
It is odd the Post passed?
Is interest an issue? Laziness? Policy on using footage from outside sources?

Whatever Happened To The Giant Baseball On Top Of The Red Porch?
It was shown on all of the drawings before the stadium opened…..The Red Porch just looks like it is “missing” something on top.
I've been ticked since day one about the missing giant rotating baseball too.
They will never win until the giant baseball is installed.
Exactly!
Glad I am not the only one who has “missed” seeing it there! We should start a federalbaseball inquiry as to what happed to that plan!
I asked Kasten once
He said it was the artist’s conception and that they didn’t have any plans to put a giant, rotating baseball on top of the Red Porch. but they do have the cool LED reader board with stats up there now.
Now we just need to get a dedicated scoreboard that shows the score and inning at all time somewhere in the park! my biggest pet peeve!

I remember
it took me a while to figure out where to look the first few times I came to Nationals Park.
So...
We, the fans, were lied to by some artist?

I have that picture
on my Metro SmarTrip card!
I just noticed on the way home today that that was the picture they used for their 2008 promotional SmartTrip cards.
No blimp
No curly W in center field
No cherry trees in LF
No giant baseball
Parking garages look cheesy now
That’s about all.
I never really got the cherry tree idea
Seeing as the blossoms are all gone before opening day. Maybe that’s why this artist’s rendition is of an empty ballpark?

They got the empty ballpark part right. heh
I would like something to break up the view of the ugly concrete area by the CF gate. Defintely doesn’t need to be trees of any type. I like stadiums that look closed in.
I thought that they were going to have a different strain that bloomed later
What would you rather have in that concourse, though? Clint and the Racing Presidents or cherry trees?

Well there actually are trees out there,
just not as many as pictured here. Something like 5 or 6 of them above the left field bleachers.

Scoreboard viewable from first base side
It would nice if the put a scoreboard that can be seen from the first base side seats without having to turn away from the field.
The circular LED Board is cool
But the center still looks empty and appears to be missing something. The giant baseball conception was pretty nice. Hey….maybe a “nest” for Screech! lol

Or a jail for Clint?

That is hilarious. But I actually think Clint does a good job. One thing for certain….he does a great job of getting those balled up T-Shirts to the rear seats of the Mezzanine sections! Maybe we should sign him to be a pitcher! Does he have a baseball or sports background?
A little Clint goes a long way. I’ll admit though that it’s more his generalship of the Nat Pack that gets me. Torrence (?) “Blow the Whistle” of the Nat Pack is the one that truly must go. He’s the one that seems to try to incite The Wave regardless of the situation and he just seems fake beyond belief.

I don't mind Terrence that much
for whatever reason, he just seems to me to be genuinely enthusiastic. Unnaturally so, to be sure. (He DOES realize he hypes for a bad bad baseball team, doesn’t he?)
Clint seems just like a huckster to me.

Let’s just say I’d evict the man from Chocolate City.

Not sure I fully understand this....
…not sure that I should want to.

My seats are close to where Terrence usually hangs out during the games (Visitors Dugout), and he really catches it from the out-of-town fans. I truly admire the way he remains enthusiastic, even if we are losing by 10 runs. I was surprised the first time I saw him up close….much older than I had realized. What is the females name? The blond who usually wears a dress and now shares half of the time with Clint? Can her dresses be any more tight (not that I am complaining)? I sometimes wonder what these folks backgrounds are….I imagine much of the NatPack are probably students?
I saw Clint one day around 21st & L Street. Looked like he was talking with coworkers and going out to lunch.
Clink eats lunch?

Scoreboard viewable from first base side
It would nice if they put a scoreboard that can be seen from the right field seats without having to turn away from the field.
