Yay, Livo!
C’mon, you Livo haters. You know he pitched really well in his last start.
He gets the lineup spot just for punking Teixera twice in my book.
Heh.
And Yay for Stammen. He’s been showing some pretty good stuff in ST. Is Mock out of the picture? I thought he was the #4 pitcher.
Mr. National himself...alright, alright in June, July, August they'll get Stras and Wang...
And then, then the Nationals will finally move on from the Livan Hernandez era…or at the end of the season…

Can't believe Mock blew up and put his spot in question...
Don’t put him back in the pen or send him to upstate NY…
Let Pudge teach Mock. Make him his project. Hall of Famer, show the “kid” the way…

I'm putting the odds at 2:1
That Livo is back next spring on a minor league contract.
I have to think he is decent this year, and they bring him back.
I’m sold on the idea.
Why not us? Why not now?
Why does everyone forget about Livo's three-year ERA of 5.59?
That’s a lot of runs to give up for the guy to be guaranteed a starting spot this year, nevermind next!

For my part it's just knowing that the rotation that they have in 2 months will hopefully be much different...

One good start for Livo
Is that really all it takes? What if he gets pummeled today?

I really hope it's Mock
Olsen doesn’t have it right now and the real reason is that Mock should be in the rotation 100%. He has more upside than Stammen and maybe even Lannan. K’s matter.
I’m fine with Livo and Olsen battling it out for the 5th spot. I just really want to see Mock get a full season in the rotation
Mock was in every rotation projection I read until today...
Now he’s not what happened?

Pitchers who battle back
Stammen demonstrated last year that he can adjust and get out of a jam. Olsen did the same today.
Mock has never had that ability. I like the four starters named. I’d actually put down Martin as my 5th, but I’d take Olsen (a lefty) over Mock.
Stammen pitching through injury seems to have won the coaching staff over...
He’ll probably make everyone rewrite their scouting reports too, now that he can throw his breaking pitches too…

I'm fine with that
Not a bad rotation, not a great one, but definitely not terrible. Perhaps a rotation that can get this team near .500 baseball.

What's more its capable and with depth
Olsen/Mock/Martin are capable guys should someone get injured. And then we’ve got Wang and Burg coming in later in the year. J-Zim also on the mend. It’s not WS winning – but its a competitive roster (for the 1st time since 2005?)
"I love, love, love John Lackey." -- Graysnail.
But who's pitching Saturday?
Yeah, I know, who’s on first…
Wakefield and Daisuke will be pitching for the Red Sox… will it be the greatest difference in fastball speed ever witnessed in an almost-major-league game or the lowest ever combined total speed in an almost-major-league game?
Maybe they just throw Stras an inning in relief?
Giving him a start just seems…well, I bought tickets for the game, so here’s hoping they do start him…but I don’t know…

They've already sold tons of tickets, so it won't be for that.
But what if he tears through Boston’s line-up? Sending him down to the minors will seem even sillier.
I’ll be going with or without, though. I’d like to see Wakefield before he retires. I have a suspicion there will never be another knuckleballer again.
The Nationals have one in their system...I'll find his name...Brian from NFA asked about him in an interview last year...

This rotation will look really good at the end of the season.
Nobody even mentioned Zimmermann coming back in August or September. I will be looking forward to spoiling some dreams of NL East teams in September.
That Cubs & Cardinals seven game home stand at the end of August will be pretty fun.
I think Strasburg gets 160 innings this year…if anybody cares to do the math, I wonder when he’ll get near 160 and be shut down.
