Spring Training Game Thread: Florida Marlins At Washington Nationals.

• Today's game sees the return of two recovering Nationals and the Spring debut of another, as Washington starter Scott Olsen tries to continue his comeback from surgery to repair a torn left labrum, shortstop Cristian Guzman tests out his surgically-repaired right shoulder, and new dad Josh Willingham returns to the lineup in Space Coast Stadium against the Florida Marlins, who throw right-hander Ricky Nolasco against the Nats. The Nationals started 2009 0-9 against Florida, failing to record their first win until August, and Washington finished the season 6-12 against their division rivals.

Today's DC Starting Lineup:

  1. Nyjer Morgan - CF
  2. Cristian Guzman - SS
  3. Ryan Zimmerman - 3B
  4. Adam Dunn - 1B
  5. Josh Willingham - DH
  6. Willie Harris - LF
  7. Ivan Rodriguez - C
  8. Elijah Dukes - RF
  9. Pete Orr - 2B
  10. Scott Olsen - LHP.

NOTES: Today's game is scheduled for 1:05 pm EST from Viera. According to Detroit News' writer Tom Gage's article entitled, "Early Monday Notes, two JV's", the Washington Nationals are looking ahead to tomorrow's Strasburg start before today's game gets under way, with Mr. Gage writing that the Nats, "...already are asking what Detroit media will be attending so they can assign seats in the press box." The latest Tweets out of Washington, however, say that while the press box may be full, there are still seats available in the park if you happen to be near Space Coast Stadium. Beat the Fish. 1:05 start....

It's looking more and more like sending Strasburg down is going to be hard to explain...

Almost as if they’re trying to find out what it will take…

Unfortunately, I think it will take injuries and continued ugliness for it to be any sort of possibility…. and even then I really, really doubt it…

BUt something tells me, one or two outing from now he’s clearly going to be the best pitcher in camp…

I know it’s only spring training and I know tomorrow is the 2nd coming, but seriously. 0-6? Sure, I’m a Mets fan first but I had planned on spending a good amount of money this spring / summer going to Nats games (planning at least one a week) since I live here in DC.
