Washington Nationals Option RHP Luis Atilano To Triple-A Syracuse.

The Washington Nationals announced this morning, via Twitter (@NatsTownNews), that they had optioned 24-year-old right-hander Luis Atilano to Triple-A Syracuse, whittling Washington's roster down to 35 players with less than a week to go before Opening Day next Monday, April 5th against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Atlanta Braves' '03 1st Round pick, acquired by the Nats' in an August 31st '06 trade for first baseman/bat Daryle Ward, had allowed 10 hits, 3 walks and 5 ER in 7 G and 7.1 IP this Spring, over which he K'd 5 and recorded 1 save. DC Skipper Jim Riggleman and his staff still have a few decisions to make before Monday, though, with Tyler Walker and Jesse English reportedly still bullpen possibilities while the race for the fifth spot in the Nats' rotation is down to either right-hander Garrett Mock or lefty Scott Olsen...That's all for now. More news when it's available...

and he still has options? That’s weird. This will be his eighth minor league season.

If there was somewhere to easily check that out I would...

Never have any luck finding option info…

He's been on the Nats' 40-man since Nov 2008.

If he was never on the Braves’ 40man (which seems plausible) then he in fact still has another option year remaining, if my understanding of this whole process is correct.
