my feeling

was way off. Good to see Morgan swipe a base and get 2 knocks though. Zimmermann had a few good hacks, but really didn’t capitalize on what was given to him. The hanging breaking pitch that he K’ed on in inning 3 was brutal (but forgivable since it’s April). He’ll be fine I’m sure.

Dunn looked decent in the field, from what I saw (didn’t get to watch entire game). The offense stuggled a bit, but they were facing Halladay. He’s all fired up because he’s on a team that’s in a division w/o the Yanks or BoSox. Overall the team got on base, they just couldn’t get timely hits. Also, it hurts that Lannan is not an opening day starter. I’d rather see Lannan face off against a team’s #2 or 3 starters, not an ace.

by Andrew Davidson on Apr 5, 2010 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Lannan was a bit shaky the whole game.

He wasn’t pitching with his usual rhythm—taking longer between pitches. He seemed nervous.

but Raul still gives me nightmares from last year. That was rediculous.
I gotta good feeling about this one though

Hey at least the Skins didn't schedule a press conference for today!

This McNabb stuff has really hijacked some deserved optimistic coverage from sports radio. I’m still positive about the Nats, though. We’ll be better than last year and at the very least we have even more future to watch this year than in the past.

Aaand STAY out!

The booing during the home lineup was uncool even for Filly fans.

This is what I'm hoping: the Phillies scored all their allowed runs for this series
So the Nats take the next 2 and leave the Philly Phanz sad and blue.

Dreamz help.

That’s the spirit MissB. I’m hoping our offense returns for the remainder of the season, especially Dunn.

Yeah, I'm kinda disappointed in Dunn from ST.

But maybe he’s concentrating on his defense still. That was a pretty sweet out he made after the Desmond booted ball.

Doc got a lot of leeway on the inside corner

At least it looked that way from up here. Hard to say for sure.

Winters and pudge have gotten into a couple of heated discussions

Behind the plate. Can’t wait to pull the pitchfx data to see how biased he was. It looked horrible in the 5th. Lannan threw 30 pitches and had 1 called strike on a 3-0 pitch

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

That’s a good sign. His spring was kind of meh, right?

Lannan is aproximetely 9 opening day wins away

but if continues these stellar performances, there may be a new record holder soon

Thanks. I figured it had to be wither Cy Young or

Walter Johnson.
I shoulda gone with Johnson because of the Washington history.

Bruney is not making his case to be the closer.

Bases loaded after a ba-zillion pitches.
But ends with a log fly to center.

But Pudge definitely came to play and hits another double.

Not an impressive way to start the season and the “games that count.”

Pudge had a good game

and English and burnett did well also.
Nyjer also did well.

Anybody else got any positives?

I will not understand why you want to beat on the pygmies that are the Washington Nationals. We know we aren’t any good. It is evident. For a team that has respectively grossly underachieved and blown major 2nd half divsion leads the last two years for three years of overpriced disappointment the gap between expectations and outcomes is far greater for the Mets than for the Nats. Mets fans should hope they build a big lead over the Nats because Strasburg, Wang, and Detweiler will offer 2nd half help as our schedule gets easier.

Always good to see a comment from TheMamba! How you been, buddy! We missed you!

Not how I wanted to open the season, but it happens against Roy Halladay, your 2010 NL Cy Young winner.
