Game 1: Worst. Opener. Ever.
Opening Day is not John Lannan's (-0.332) thing. He and Miguel Batista (-0.054) each gave up 5 ER, and he and Jason Bergmann (-0.016) each gave up a dinger (Bergie's was a granny...). Ryan Zimmerman (+0.070) gave us a brief glimmer of hope with an RBI double in the first, but I'd almost rather have just lost from the start.

Anyone at the game? I met Doghouse, Dave from NNN, John Quinn, Roscoe!!!!
Hope you all had a good time until that Howard homer, though I knew it was trouble when Lannan walked the leadoff man in front of him,

I was there, standing room only ticket, so I was wandering all over the place. I was happy to see the people from letteddywin.com a few hours before first pitch.

I met him again yesterday, they are hard to miss...
Which comes first, a Nats winning season, or a Teddy win? You know, to ask the important questions.

I bet a Nationals winning season, they have gone so long now without letting Teddy win that they are probably going to save it for a very special occasion.

The 2012 World Series
when the Nats win it all. That’s when Teddy will win too.

Good to meet you guys!
I was loving it until inning 3; we had some really loud Phillies fans (redundant?) near us, and they got pretty quiet until that homer.
Dang - Sorry I missed you guys
Section 207 – thankfully more Nats Fans than Phillies Phans. Walked up to Verizon Center for the Caps games afterwards. Green Turtle for Duke/Butler. Beats working…
Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
:-(
Tough day for Lannan and Batista, but at least Pudge was as advertised. Buckle up boys, it’s going to be a long season.
I've said it before, Pudge may be on the downside of his career...
BUt with all respect to Jesus Flores, Pudge is the best catcher this team hads had since moving from Montreal…

Play at the plate early, and cutting down the lead runner on bunt attempt were both...

No....Last Year's Was Heartbreaking
At least there was no doubt in this one. Last year? Devastating! We had that one in the Curly W column until the bullpen (Saul Rivera in fact) walked two batters and then gave up two HRs in the late innings. So, I will conclude that last season’s loss was worst.
Opening day?
We lost 12-6 and never had the lead. Or are you talking the home opener?

Yeah, the 09 home opener was brutal.

Sigh, it was bad day for my two teams...
Nationals lose and Cubs lose. Well, on the bright side, there’s 161 more games! Let’s get some wins!

It's going to be rough until Strasburg and a (healthy) Chien-Ming Wang get here
I’m not too confident in Marquis or Mock holding up well. Lannan should pull it together over the course of the season. Stammen has looked good this spring and last half of 2009. Livan is Livan, good some days, bad on others. This is a patchwork rotation until June when we could have Strasburg and Wang in the rotation. And then maybe Jordan Zimm. by September.

It's only one
Though it was a bad on. Marquis will lace ’em up Wednesday and throw a gem.
Nats, beat those Phils!
Why not us? Why not now?
This was just Pathetic
I can’t stand having to go to “way South Philadelphia” to watch Nats Home games.
Plus I lost my phone…grrr….
Easily worst opener ever.
Lannan 1 through 3 all smiles...Then reality set in.
A beautiful day @ Nats ballpark spoiled by pitching that fell apart in the 4th and further spoiled by the roaches that permeated the park. No, not literal roaches, I speak of the Philly Phaithful. Good lord! Was it a Phillies home opener or a Nats home opener?
Phillies jerseys and t-shirts were everywhere. Chants such as: “Let’s go Phillies” and “This is our house!” were a constant. It was like going to an Orioles / Red Sox game @ Camden yards. The Red Sox own the place.
Why was it that the section I was in had the most raucous Phillies fans and also the section in which the Phillies fans refused to sit down in? I looked across the vast expanse of complimentary red, curly W ball caps to see every section behaving w/the exception of ours. In case you’re wondering, our section was dedicated to Halladay because upwards of 75 to 100 people were wearing shirts that had the following printed on the back: "Every fifth day is a “Halladay” Go Phils."
To me, the only bright spot was the sheer effort and speed of Nyjer Morgan. The guy is simply electric. I almost re-gifted my Ben’s 1/2 smoked watching the lumbering Adam Dunn cover first base and swinging blindly @ almost every pitch. He was already throwing his bat after his second at bat in frustration after a swinging strikeout (if I’m not mistaken).
I won’t get too down after the 1st game, but I don’t know how much blind faith I can muster for too long.
There was one other improvement. It appeared as if the concessions lines moved faster.
P.S. What on earth was going on w/cell phone coverage? My iPhone (AT&T) had four bars and the 3G symbol, but I couldn’t make a call, pull data via the net, or send/receive emails/texts. Can anyone explain that? Other people seemed to be having no problems.
This season I will expect the worst but I will be prepared for 'worser'.

Not a pretty final 2/3 of the game.
Luckily my Verizon 3G and phone worked great. Maybe those map commercials are right. Bummer.
I had the same problem with my phone--many bars, no data...
And too many “husky” dudes in backwards caps and Utley jerseys. Seriously, do all the hat factories in Filly put the brim on the back or the side of the caps?

Did people expect differently? We have no SP at all
and little RP
Our hitting is hot and cold and far from consistent
Lannan struggled in last season's opener too
but he did OK over the season as a whole. He should be alright as long as he’s not injured. He just seems to be a slow starter. It takes a couple starts in the regular season for him to find his groove.
