Washington Nationals: Stephen Strasburg Live On MASN @ 7:00 PM EST.

• The fourth start of the year with Triple-A Syracuse, and ninth start overall this season for Stephen Strasburg, will be shown live on MASN tonight at 7:00 pm EST tonight. The Nats' '09 no.1 overall pick takes the mound as the Chiefs face the Toledo Mud Hens at home in Syracuse, NY's Alliance Bank Stadium. With the Nationals traveling to San Francisco where they'll start a series with the Giants tomorrow night, MASN's going live with what should be (if you believe in The Strasburg Plan) the next-to-last start in the minors before Stephen Strasburg makes his MLB debut...

WE WANT STRASBURG!!!!!!!!

I'll be watching in all likelihood on TV

No Charlie and Dave plus Strasburg commands my full attention and is friggin’ amazing to watch. But I may pop in from time to time.

At this point, I expect Strasburg to shutout AAA hitters and I am as interested to see what else Syracuse can do to provide some hope. Mostly, I’m hoping that I get to see some of the guys in their bullpen not named Ron Villone.

Ian Desmond...because the future starts now for the Washington Nationals.

Apparently the Chiefs needed six pitchers to get through the game...

…on the bright side, he noted that everyone was able to “get their work in.” He was also a tight end in college.

And this isn’t taking a shot at Mr. Carroll, who’s humored my dumb questions for two interview in the last two years:

but then:

“Just talked to Syracuse. Strasburgs is fine and starting. False rumor put out there. Again strasburgs fine, confirmed with team.

Yep.

That Guillen at bat was kind of the turning point. He steps out, Stras gets slightly perturbed and buzzes him inside. Guillen then looks away. Stras will benefit from a catcher a little less predictable, but that was a good lesson to learn. The double was legit. The RBI was kind of lucky. The out was kind of lucky. 2-2 is a fair score at this point, but Ivany is not exactly making himself look well.

He pitched into the 7th last time out.

Last time was 90 pitches are 7 innings. He went 6.1 cause he hit 90 pitches. That’s the only thing about all this swing early stuff. Toledo’s going to get him for 7 and the last two he’ll be mad.

Will Strasburg debut in San Diego???

From Nats Journal:

8:20 p.m.: A quick 1-2-3 fifth inning (Strasburg’s first since the first), and it appears the Chiefs are going to lift him here after five innings. Pitching coach Greg Booker just motioned to the bullpen to get a right-hander up after the inning ended. Nothing is wrong with Strasburg — who appeared disappointed in the dugout when Booker told him he was done. Strasburg has only thrown 52 pitches (36 strikes), but the Nationals may be looking to shut him down early in his final minor league starts, in order to save some bullets for the majors.

I'm coming to check on things every now and then.

I’m watching it downstairs and popping up every now and then to follow the thread. Sounds like those were some professional at bats there. The guy was tiring and both Lambin and Bruntlett were able to foul off some pitches.

The games do matter to me. I’d like to see Syracuse make a run at the IL. It’s not necessarily indicative of our farm system in any way because most of the offense is on the backs of these veterans instead of prospects but you want some of the pitching prospects to get the experience.

I think the Carolina League Title run that Detwiler had helped save his year and propelled him to the success that got him to the majors last year.

Interesting start for Meyers.

6IP 2runs on 2 solo shots. 5K, 2BB, 3H against Bowie. They’re tied at 2-2. Espinosa is 1-3 with a solo HR. Marerro is 1-2 with a BB.

Haven't heard yet. Expos4 is listening to the broadcast.

I’m upstairs following the thread and checking in on some other minor league scores and key outings.
Meyers pitched well again for Harrisburg. Morris got knocked around pretty good. Holder has continued some solid work in the South Atlantic League. 6IP, 0ER, 1R, 4H, 1BB, 1K. I’m still concerned about that guy. You’ve got to be able to strike people out in the SALLY league if you’re a college grad pitching in that league with a lot of high school prospects.

He went 5 strong and gave up 2R, 1earned.

He got hit around some in both the 4th and the 5th. I don’t know if they are trying to spare his pscyhe, save some bullets for the Nats, or if there’s a greater issue.

Until Dave Shenin makes his post from WaPo, I’m going to be pretty skeptical. Outside chance the Nats could call him up to make a debut on the road against his home folks in San Diego on the 29th.

Unless all the other players in his class have ridiculously abnormal service time, he is guaranteed to be free of super two eligibility by the time May 29 rolls around. Which puts him in line for the 4th and the 10th.

Batista showed why he is on the roster against the O's.

The man has a rubber arm and can eat innings. He pitched two innings one day and then pitched four the next after Olsen had to leave early with his injury. Batista is kind of like blowout insurance for the Nats. You need a guy like that to manage the prospects correctly.

Peralta’s a close and a short guy for the most part. He’s there to close for the Chiefs and serve as injury insurance if Capps goes down. You’d chain some people up and Peralta would come in that instance. I thought there was a chance they might bring Peralta up for a little while before Storen, but since they brought up Storen, it’s all good as is.
