How to stop Hanley:

“There’s a way you want to pitch him, and you just gotta execute those pitches…If you make your pitches that you need to make, he’s still going to get to you sometimes, but not the extent that he’s hurt us in the last couple years.”

A lot of Mike Morse talk for some reason...

Riggleman says he’s fine physically, just a matter of getting at bats…

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"

There is little need for us to bring up Mike Morse

He’s a pinch hitter with more pop off the bat but the next move to make would be to send Taveras down and bring up another reliever. Be interesting to see what happens if Chico delivers a solid outing on Saturday.

How about simply releasing Taveras?

Glad to see him get a start...

…not glad to see him batting ahead of Desmond in the order. I am not a fan of this batting order of course. Guzman 2? No more, please! I’d like to see Pudge 2, Desmond 7 and Guzman 8.

Uh...yeah...Let's gets that Calder Cup!!!!

by souldrummer on May 7, 2010 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions

If Guz plays, he's batting 2nd...I do not get Kennedy in the 2-spot, though....

And, I only hope Desmond is being groomed by a smart Riggler, as I’d put him batting second given these players…

Was going to ask in pregame, but didn't get a question in...

Whether there giving him the rookie treatment and making him earn his way into the two spot from the bottom of the order, but I have read him saying he like having Desmond down there. I just think he’s too easy to avoid with the pitcher behind him…

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"

by Patrick Reddington on May 7, 2010 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

yep

it’s probably about low pressure and having a threat in the bottom of the order. I’d like to see Desmond bat 7th and a good managerial converation with a veteran leading that veteran to take one for the team and bat 8th. Tonight, you’d like that to be Willie Harris.

Uh...yeah...Let's gets that Calder Cup!!!!

by souldrummer on May 7, 2010 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions

6th or 7th is rookie earning his way up (which I agree about....) 8th is a waste...

Not much choice here, except for Harris…Much better than last year’s dart board lineups, which I may have commented upon a time or two…back then…

Yeah, I know.

It’s about loyalty to veterans and it’s this kind of loyalty that probably keeps Guz from sulking in the corner. From a productivity standpoint, it’s frustrating to watch and it keeps putting Zim up with men off base.

On Adam Kennedy's 9th inning walk last night:

Jim Riggleman: “Last night we really, I felt like we won that ballgame because he took that 3-1 pitch. He took 3-1 fastball, that was very unselfish, when he took that pitch he forced their left-hander to throw another pitch and that pitch was ball four and that set it up, I felt great about that inning from that point….”

Riggles doesn't like using Burnett if he can avoid it...

…because he thinks he’s only got one lefty in the bullpen. This is why it is important that English or Garate or some other lefty from down on the farm gets called up to get a shot so that he can feel free to use Burnett as a middle reliever who can get all kinds of guys out if he is the best option behind Clippard.

Yuck

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
