"The Washington Nationals travel to Cleveland this weekend for an interleague series with the Indians, led by former Nats skipper Manny Acta. Acta was relieved of his duties in Washington at last season's all-star break after compiling a 26-61 record in 2009 and 158-252 for his two and a half seasons at the helm."
• Interleague Record: Washington Nationals:
Heading into tonight's game, the Washington Nationals are 2-1 this season in Interleague Play, 114-118 overall according to MLB.com's Interleague Records. 7-11 in 2009, 8-10 in '08, the Washington Nationals haven't played the Cleveland Indians since June 22-24 2007 when the Nats took two of three from the Indians in RFK. Before that, it was 2002, when the Expos and Indians played three with Montreal taking 2 of 3 at home in the Stade Olympique.

I can't wait to see Strasburg vs Kearns
Though I really do believe Acta when he says Kearns was hurt the last 2 years. He is just too talented to be as bad as he was in Washington.

Big game tonight....
Gotta keep it going…
Atilano will be big tonight… Got good feelings and the team is definitely riding the Strasburg train even when he doesn’t pitch…
It is convenient, however, to face Pit and Cleveland…

Now see,
That’s the kind of stuff you don’t hear often.
Willingham going inside the clubhouse to watch tape after his at bat, but then going directly back to the dugout.
I find that kind of stuff interesting. We rarely hear anything ‘different’ about what the players do from at bat to at bat. Good stuff.

But the team should be up 2-0, not down 3-2. It’s all due to the suckiness of the above named players.

What bothers me so much is the fact that he doesn't understand many basics of the game
Not running in certain situations, hitting the cutoff man on throws from the OF, bunting better, cutting down on his swing and not striking out so much.
I like the energy he brought to the team but the other stuff? Well, it is a concern.

something is REALLY off with him this year.
You're so right!
He just doesn’t seem to understand the game…look at his bunting, CF instincts, and caught stealing. It’s just not happening.
Anything he does well is purely because of his speed. He’s 30 now and he may be losing a step already. UGH
No!! IT's not you it's the Nats rush to get through games after the early runs...

That would be the round where we got Jordan Zimmermann
Atilano was taken 35th overall by the Atlanta Braves in 2003. Right before they took Jarrod Saltalamacchia (36th) and two picks in front of Adam Jones. Though I’m not an extremely big fan of Jones (man, could he be a good hitter if he just learned to lay off of…. well… anything), he’s the clear best pick of the sandwich round in 2003. Other picks were Adam Miller (Tribe SP….. was their top prospect, but injuries derailed his career), Matt Murton, Omar Quintanilla, and (oddly) only one player who hasn’t reached the big leagues… Roger Whitaker by the Giants.

Yeah..... I'll reserve judgment on Wang
Want to see how he looks before I start getting too excited there. He wasn’t exactly stellar late in his Yankee career, but he has had plenty of success….. Sure would be nice to see the infield defense start playing better when he’s getting ready to return, though.

Wow, I blocked a lot of these names out of my mind after they left
And now I’m getting reminded of all of them again. I won’t say Cabrera because he was just a bad player. He didn’t have the terrible attitude that Lo Duca and Lopez had. That’s why I don’t hate Kearns either. He definitely had to go but he wasn’t a troublemaker.
So I might go with Lo Duca/Lopez. Dukes should get some consideration. Although he was well-behaved when he was here, I think some free agents may have avoided D.C. because of Dukes, particularly Mark Teixeira.
On the other hand, Dunn is looking a whole lot better than Teixeira is this year:
Dunn, .284 BA, .378 OBP, 13 HR, 33 RBI
Teixeira, .226 BA, .341 OBP, 9 HR, 36 RBI
and Teixeira is hitting in a better line-up than Dunn is.

Of course, I also argued NJ > Dunn, but that worked out okay in spite of my posting.

I'd post Johnson's numbers but it isn't worth it
Out after just 24 games/72 ABs. And knowing what we know, a “sore wrist” with NJ really means “out for the rest of the season.”
OK, you forced me to post it:
.167 BA, though .388 OBP
But .306 slugging.
I thought it was a bad move to trade Nick last year, but I’m glad the Nats didn’t listen to me. Wait, I didn’t remember that right. I DID want the Nats to trade Nick last year. Yeah, that’s how it really was.

Vivian Jaffe: "Have you ever transcended space and time?"
Albert Markovski: "Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

I have a pic of my granny after church wearing her mink...and I have the mink somewhere.
I freak people out with it sometimes. It’s a great prop.
I found my grandmother's in her attic, but the moths
and everything else had feasted too long. It looked awful.
But those shoes and that dress washed up nicely.
Do you have shoes to match??
And do the curtains match the carpet?

less kennedy - less TAWH
Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Ray Knight's taking away Nyjer's green light.
Says to earn a green light you have to swipe 80% and Nyjer is nowhere near that.
Is that a conversation from early May they're replaying?

Did you know that Ray used to manage the Reds?

Riggllzzzz has to defend Morgan.
He’s the one enabling the bad base running, bad throws, etc, by putting Morgan in the lineup every night. He can’t tell everyone that Morgan is killing the team while writing his name in the lineup every day.

OK, this would have been Jacques Cousteau's 100th birthday and TCM is showing his tv show from the 60's all night.
It’s amazing.

I love that half the stuff they do would tick off environmentalists now.
They just blasted a reef to make a channel.
Earlier they shot whales and attached giant helium balloons to them so they could track ’em.
We don't need no stinking sunscreen
