I can't wait to see Strasburg vs Kearns

Though I really do believe Acta when he says Kearns was hurt the last 2 years. He is just too talented to be as bad as he was in Washington.

Big game tonight....

Gotta keep it going…
Atilano will be big tonight… Got good feelings and the team is definitely riding the Strasburg train even when he doesn’t pitch…
It is convenient, however, to face Pit and Cleveland…

Willingham going inside the clubhouse to watch tape after his at bat, but then going directly back to the dugout.

I find that kind of stuff interesting. We rarely hear anything ‘different’ about what the players do from at bat to at bat. Good stuff.

The sad thing is he's actually pitched ahead for the most part in this game

But he’s not putting anything close enough so that any big league hitter would chase it. Then he suddenly finds himself in a 2-2/3-2 count and catches too much of the plate. Again, Livo without the moxie

What bothers me so much is the fact that he doesn't understand many basics of the game

Not running in certain situations, hitting the cutoff man on throws from the OF, bunting better, cutting down on his swing and not striking out so much.

I like the energy he brought to the team but the other stuff? Well, it is a concern.

That would be the round where we got Jordan Zimmermann

Atilano was taken 35th overall by the Atlanta Braves in 2003. Right before they took Jarrod Saltalamacchia (36th) and two picks in front of Adam Jones. Though I’m not an extremely big fan of Jones (man, could he be a good hitter if he just learned to lay off of…. well… anything), he’s the clear best pick of the sandwich round in 2003. Other picks were Adam Miller (Tribe SP….. was their top prospect, but injuries derailed his career), Matt Murton, Omar Quintanilla, and (oddly) only one player who hasn’t reached the big leagues… Roger Whitaker by the Giants.

Damn my research on the fly

As much as I normally agree with Mrs D I disagree with her tonight

The team that Riggllz put out tonight is exactly what we are seeing. It looked like he was waving the white flag when I saw the lineup earlier this afternoon.

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Wow, I blocked a lot of these names out of my mind after they left

And now I’m getting reminded of all of them again. I won’t say Cabrera because he was just a bad player. He didn’t have the terrible attitude that Lo Duca and Lopez had. That’s why I don’t hate Kearns either. He definitely had to go but he wasn’t a troublemaker.

So I might go with Lo Duca/Lopez. Dukes should get some consideration. Although he was well-behaved when he was here, I think some free agents may have avoided D.C. because of Dukes, particularly Mark Teixeira.

On the other hand, Dunn is looking a whole lot better than Teixeira is this year:

Dunn, .284 BA, .378 OBP, 13 HR, 33 RBI
Teixeira, .226 BA, .341 OBP, 9 HR, 36 RBI

and Teixeira is hitting in a better line-up than Dunn is.

.167 BA, though .388 OBP
But .306 slugging.

I thought it was a bad move to trade Nick last year, but I’m glad the Nats didn’t listen to me. Wait, I didn’t remember that right. I DID want the Nats to trade Nick last year. Yeah, that’s how it really was.
