why do warmup pitches and pitches during practice not affect the pitch count? what is the difference? this whole 100 pitches a game/100 innings season thing is really pissing me off.

Basically the concern is maximum effort pitches when you're talking about starters.
He’s not trying to break the radar gun at 100mph+ on his warmup pitches and bullpen sessions. On the other hand, relief pitchers should be a bit more concerned if they have to warmup every day and never get any rest at all.

work everyday, between 3 jobs
this is the best one to be at for baseball. Job 1 is in a hospital, no chance of even catching a score update. Job 2 is on a ambulance where I might be able to catch the game on the radio but also might be tied up on calls and miss the whole thing. Job 3 (this one) is in dispatch where I have 6 huge flatscreens but the tv audio hasnt worked well in months since we upgraded our equipment
You're a real trooper.
Sounds like some challenging work and I have much respect for anyone working in the health care professions or service professions in this economic environment. Hope of some that is by choice to build your future, but regardless my prayers or with you.

I can afford a game or so a year
for myself, but….i prefer to bring the kids so I end up at the Squirrels

They're not but so great.
But it’s worth going to see them for Norris at catcher and Burgess in RF, two of our top position player prospects. AJ Morris was a high draft pick last year.
Potomac may be better in the 2nd half if they receive some reinforcements from Hagerstown as well. They certainly have fallen off from their Carolina League Championship a couple years back, but minors games are about both wins and player development.
Harrisburg’s offense is truly pathetic, though, and I feel for their fans.

He should be.
His play has hurt the team, and I was more concerned when he seemed to kind of blow off the early criticism when he was obviously struggling and getting thrown out. If he craters in DC, that “Mr. Freeze off my twig” and the thrown glove stuff are going to come back to be his defining moments.

I just speak the truth.
Half the reason I wrote the gargantuan fanpost I just put up is that I want to see how the local editors respond. We’ve got DC United guys, Wizards and Skins people writing for the main DCHub (I think Patrick wrote his first thing on Oswalt today). Don’t have an opinion on things yet, but I kind of wanted to try to write something more in a Chris Needham style and see what happened.

Our bullpen is kind of two-faced.
Clipp, Storen, and Capps/Slaten sometimes are pretty good.
Walker, Batista, and sometimes Burnett are not as good.
But the bullpen has been much better than last year. You could be waiting awhile for the starters, though. Only Lannan is pitching below his career numbers and Livo is pitching well above his.

This refers to his rehab before he got surgery. He made that rehab start, felt pain, and then got surgery that is supposed to keep him our for 6-10 weeks. Seems to me that Detwiler is still ahead of Marquis.
