By the way, I replied to your post on Bunning’s career earnings. I think those have to be adjusted for inflation and standardized to today’s salary scale. Even if what he said isn’t exactly rational, he was a HOF-pitcher in an era where pitchers weren’t commodities, they were just ballplayers.

He’s used to playing well over 100 games per year though, which will help him in the system next year.

Nonetheless he is a talented guy, high strikeouts, big frame, 92-95. Rangers are pretty solid in the pen and will continue to find guys to convert to relievers in the minors, so they can part with talent to win now.
He has a high K/9 at pretty much every level, which is good. The PCL is hitter-friendly too, fwiw.

This team isn’t competing for anything this year and next year. Very hard to have 10+ wins from year to year. We’re just now getting past all the damage Bowden did to this franchise. so is the speed gun off or has Matt Capps lost 3 or 4 mph?
Could he be injured? I noticed this last game he pitched as well.

Hi all - checking in from work right at the end of the game
Catching up on the signing chatter, I am convinced that the Bryce Harper deal will be done. Both sides have that much invested in getting Harper’s foot on that ladder to the majors. A more important signing, for me, will be A.J. Cole. He slipped to the 4th round on signability concerns. If the Nats step up and buy him away from Miami that would be a HUGE statement about the Lerners’ commitment to the team IMHO.
