Suns Shine with Hague: Upper Minors Report 8/12

The Nationals struggled last night, but the Suns won convincingly 7-2 over Greensboro led by Rick Hague's triple and Evan Bronson's (W, 2-2) solid five inning, two run start. The Chiefs outlasted Columbus in a 13 inning war of attrition 4-3 on a walk off homer by Seth Bynum after Shairon Martis offered a quality seven inning, three run start. Tom Leo's gamer for the Chiefs highlights the volatility of the roster and Syracuse's strong play of late. The local gamer for Hagerstown highlights Rizzo favorite Rick Hague's eight pitch at bat against a tough lefty to get a game changing triple.

Sue Dinem at nationalsprospects.com offers "Good, Bad, and Interesting", his weekly summary of greats and goats in the system. Complete minors summary of results including the GCL and the DSL can be found at Nationalsprospects.com as well. The Nationals revealed their organizational favorite performance in this week's official minor league report. Of course, one of the most important things in the minors will be if and when the remaining draft picks sign and where they are assigned. Syracuse is making a last minute dash for the playoffs. Harrisburg is one game out for the wildcard, Potomac remains in playoff position, and Vermont has a one game lead in their division as well. Lastly, John Sickels offers a solid review of his original preseason top 20 prospects and their performance to this point. There's a healthy dialogue over there and a good forum to register your opinions and questions about the system for other minorleagueball.com regulars in the comments.
