This is half of the value of the guys like Stammen and Marquis. Their hitting ability means you shouldn’t have to pull them as early. Who is he going to bring into pinch hit? Maxwell? Morse? Mench? I’d almost rather have Stammen up there than either of those guys if Morse has been slumping.

This last callup has been bad for me.

He’s giving us bad at bats against lefties now. I think he needs to be helping Syracuse with their stretch run and you need to either commit to a large number of at bats or more likely try to move him for whatever you can get during the offseason. I think he’d really benefit from a change of scenery.

Boomer Whiting snapshot:

I saw Boomer Whiting in Potomac last year. He’s a scrappy guy who bunts a lot. Nothing special. Comes into that “Boom, boom, boom” song by the Black Eyed Peas. Really, really, really hustles but as of two months into this year he was organizational depth preparing a desperate stab at switch hitting to try to raise his OBP.

For some reason he got promoted to Syracuse directly from high A Potomac. I can’t remember why exactly. Since then, he’s had a .396OBP and 30steals against 10 caught stealings. Basically, he’s been a protypical leadoff guy for Syracuse from the day he got up there while the big club has nothing like a leadoff guy.

He’s got a bunch of fans from folks who like him from his days in Potomac. He’s one of the people’s champs in the system like Josh Wilkie, the undrafted reliever from GW is for me.

I think that right now it’s an easier call to make. Stammen is the guy who would take his place at the moment and they seem totally committed to making him a reliever. I’m now off to add some vodka to my limeade and hope beyond all hope that Slaten the Situation can stop the bleeding that Miss Iowa, Marquis Mark, and most of our offense has started.

I am kind of suprised to see that he's in there, though.

We’re down 9-2 and he’s got a bad leg.

Who else, though?

Have to pretty much bat around to take the lead, or else you’ll need his bat in extras.

Is this the ugliest homestand of the year?

The losses and the manner that they’ve taken place is real bad. And the one good game they’ve played was directly opposite a Redskins preseason blowout and most Washingtonians have no idea it happened, except for Bruce Boudreau of course.

Good view of the HR's at least? Oh right, those were mostly Arizona's...

I once sat in 7 innings of rain in RFK cause we had seats 5 rows behind home….

Balester's got great stuff so far tonight.

I’m really amazed at how electric his stuff can be. He’s just a space cadet.

Good luck on tomorrow's game...

now it’s off to the lab to see if the Dodgers can hang on to their lead and get Ted Lilly another win.

That would be nice.

You’ve got to root for the guy. I don’t think he fits for us, but I’m glad that he’s doing well.
