I was hoping
The General had earned another start at the top of the lineup. No such luck though.
Why not us? Why not now?
The General prefers to fight leftist radicals...

Boomer Whiting snapshot:
I saw Boomer Whiting in Potomac last year. He’s a scrappy guy who bunts a lot. Nothing special. Comes into that “Boom, boom, boom” song by the Black Eyed Peas. Really, really, really hustles but as of two months into this year he was organizational depth preparing a desperate stab at switch hitting to try to raise his OBP.
For some reason he got promoted to Syracuse directly from high A Potomac. I can’t remember why exactly. Since then, he’s had a .396OBP and 30steals against 10 caught stealings. Basically, he’s been a protypical leadoff guy for Syracuse from the day he got up there while the big club has nothing like a leadoff guy.
He’s got a bunch of fans from folks who like him from his days in Potomac. He’s one of the people’s champs in the system like Josh Wilkie, the undrafted reliever from GW is for me.

Ha!
I’d like to see him take an assignment somewhere or take a bullpen spot. I don’t think it’s fair to his teammates to send him out there to lose just because he has a big contract. I applaud Stammen for accepting his demotions this year as well as he has and rising to the role he’s been given. He’s earned a bit of my respect.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.

Frankly, since the year is almost done and his salary is a sunk cost...
maybe they should shut him down for the season. Let him get ready for next year.
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"--The Brain
That’s kind of what I’m starting to think. Let the young guys you’re evaluating get their chance. Next year he’ll make the club and performance will determine whether he starts or relieves.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
It seems like a viable option...
but you know management, they won’t listen to us.
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"--The Brain
I think that right now it’s an easier call to make. Stammen is the guy who would take his place at the moment and they seem totally committed to making him a reliever. That’s kind of a shame because one of his assets is his bat and his recent performance did not merit a demotion. I’m not crying tears for him, but he’s certainly offered more than Marquis.
