I was counting Ramos
Pudge has been worked too hard this season, and I think he’s about out of gas. Syracuse never had anything like this 3-4 in their lineup though.

It's Simple, Really
When facing a Minor league pitcher, trot out a minor league lineup. Of course, Mike Minor is a highly touted prospect (taken #7 overall in last year’s draft) and our 3M (Morse, Mench, Maxwell) … um … aren’t. This is where all that glow over the future gets a little dimmed by having to deal with the lineup of the present. I mean, I love Pudge, but in a real lineup he’d be batting 8th, 7th at best. In the #5 slot? And looking at the rest, it’s on merit, too. Woe.
At least they’re all right-handed; Riggleman does love his lefty-righty matchups no matter what.
Pudge needs to be batting farther down in the lineup.
You put him behind two slow OBP guys and he’s a double play grounder waiting to happen.

We are averaging 31,000, and just finished a four game series with LA with probably an average of 40,000 per game. It’s Monday night, and Strasburg’s not pitching…..
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." I have to agree that Olsen's not quite the draw...

Maybe
Chipper can talk him into another year.
He gets tossed alot b/c he tells his players that if they have legitimate beef with a call to tell him and he will argue (and possibly get tossed). It serves a dual purpose. 1) the players have to be honest with themselves as to whether they were really wronged by an umpire, and; 2) it keeps his players from chirping a the umpires, which keeps them focused on the game and prevents them from being ejected.
The Braves always play hard and smart, and that is the essence of a good manager.

Naw, I'm funnin'
Funnin’ on the power thing. But the man is a pest. He can’t do much worse than JMax at this point except that I don’t think he’s really credible in CF. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be trying to convert Michael Martinez into a CF.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
That's what I've been wondering. . .
I’m not a farm system follower. . . hell, it costs me a couple bills just to be able to watch the Nats each year, much less be able to follow the minors closely, but I don’t understand what the point of JMax in the majors is thus far. There HAS to be someone better at the plate that wouldn’t give up much in the field defensively as a tradeoff, who could benefit from time in the majors and has more upside
JMax has so many tools.
He can run. He has power. He plays defense. It’s hard not to be seduced by his tools. He has also shown that he can hit some in AAA. So, he has some value. They want to give him every chance to succeed against lefties.

For those watching the MASN broadcast
Freaking out about Harper having to be optioned to the minors this season, nice little piece on Fangraphs:
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/regarding-bryce-harper-and-options/
Essentially, since there are less than 90 days remaining in the season, he can’t get the 90 (professional) service days that would require the Nats to burn an option on him for this season. Technically, there’s an extra option kicked in provided that it’s used before he’s accrued five years of (again, professional) service time anyway.

I don't think they'll use up *all* his options,
but they will be using his first option starting next April. They will definitely have options on him for the next 4 years, and, if they want, they can outright him in the fifth year.
As I said, I don’t think they’ll use all his options because he will be at the ML level to stay by 2013.

But unfortunately there’s no way I can get to Woodbridge on a weeknight. I work near the Hill, and it’s just too much traffic.

It’s getaway traffic for people who work construction (etc) but whose families are in the boonies. Less of an effect with the economy where it is, but no guarantee of an easier time either.

to get on the HOV at 6:00, and you’ll have no problems.
