Good luck tonight!
I’m on my way out to the ‘Skins-Ravens game, so I’ll read all about it on the wrapup thread :-)
Merry Strasmas Philly
From what I’ve gathered the Phillie fans have been tailgating since the end of last night’s game. This is going to be an entertaining game to say the least. Hope no one gets puked on, or has their toddler given alcohol.
For A Philadelphia Phillies Fan's Perspective
Go get hammered and be a ass.
I hate Philly and have talked an inordinate amount of shit to all the Philly fans at work.
I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

Weak hitting line up ... very, very weak ...
Bernadina batting fifth? Harris batting ninth? Kennedy following Bernadina? Chipper and the Braves acknowledged the threat to hit the long ball Morse poses … Oh well I guess its respect the veterans and the game. No way this team plays .500 ball the rest of the way … or gets to 69 wins … no way.
70 wins. I'll bet you a buck.

"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
Ha ... with Riggleman? If they lose this series they will likely hit a long losing skid ...
They themselves will feel snake bit, error prone, futile and pathetic … and Riggleman isn’t the best manager under those conditions …
One could almost somehow infer that you may not be Riggleman's greatest fan.
Rob
"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
And if they get swept?
Philly, because of these fans is probably their #1 rivalry … its going to hurt if they lose tonight.
OK, enough with the negative vibe, friend
At least let them lose the second game before you start talking about sweep.

He could do that now.
Rob
"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
He'll wait til the rosters expand ...
… and they beyond 20 games under .500 … then it won’t matter anymore …
They would need to win at least 1 game ...
in every series here on out … do you think this team with this manager is capable of that? Given the schedule? Phillies, Cubs, 4 with the Cards, Marlins (who seem to have their number again?), Pirates, Mets, Marlins again, Braves, Philly again, Houston, Braves, and Philly again …
Of course they can.
They could also sweep Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Houston. That’s 10 wins right there. And they also have played pretty well against the NL East this year, aside from Philly.
Rob
"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
They will be lucky to get out of Chicago alive ...
In the case of the Pirates and the Astros … yeah they really should be you know they are good at finding ways to lose to those teams?
They aren't going to Chicago, they are coming here
They swept Pittsburgh earlier in the year
They can easily sweep Houston at home.
Rob

If everything goes right, and with the additions of J-Zim and Maya,
I could see us ending up 73-89

"Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection." -- Red Smith
Again the problem with that strategy is Riggleman!!!
If he decided to play guys like Ramos excluding Nieves. Kept Harris on the bench … played Espinosa or whoever they bring up who will want to make an impression for next spring? Yeah, maybe? JZimm should be pitching now instead we find Lannan and Marquis? That says 100 losses …
Why rush a guy off Tommy John to pitch for such an awful team?
They should take as long as possible and still take it easy when Zimmermann’s back up.

Its the same with Strasburg ...
They can limit his pitch count just as they are now in the minors. The difference is he might be able to help this team win some games.
It seems like he has been on rehab for about a month now.
He is just as likely to get hurt pitching for the Nationals as he is playing for Syracuse or Harrisburg.

You are wrong.
He’s currently in the minors because he’s still gaining strength, not because of Lannan.

Okay so ....
Don’t you think they should have kept Marquis and Olsen in the minors longer to “gain strength”?
They should have never signed Marquis in the first place, IMO.

He's on schedule, even possibly ahead of schedule
He’ll be in the majors next week, in just over a year after Tommy John surgery. That’s very good news.

Bowden is going to be crowing ...
He’s going to say I told them they should have just shut him down the first time he had the arm trouble.
It looked to me
that he hurt his forearm on the follow-through, right about the point where his right arm hits the mitt/his left arm. He might have slightly hyperextended his forearm or something not too serious. In any case, it didn’t look to me to be an issue with him being overused or anything like that.
This is all pure speculation, of course.

I don’t even know what that means.

I mean, that’s fine, I’ve just not watched enough baseball to know what a Flexor tendon is.

That sounds like a Sean Hill kind of injury.
I think that’s doable if they’re conservative. The problem there was that neither the organization nor the pitcher were conservative and they had him trying to pitch through pain all of the time.

Well they gave Stras no chance to keep pitching tonight.

They'll have to have Andrews give his 2 cents ... if they're smart ... meanwhile who you gonna call?

So because Brett Favre trains in a high school and then shows up late to training camp, Strasburg should too?
Though, others trust him too. I’m just hoping it doesn’t need to come to that.

Hah ... lol
It makes sense for them to consult with him as many athletes with various injuries do. He can prescribe/suggest a rehabilitation treatment plan in the offseason … they only do surgery (hopefully!) when absolutely required.
I just
Strained my flexor tendon looking at Dibble’s shirt.

From the Goessling Goose gang leader:
Update: Stephen Strasburg has a strained flexor tendon. There will be an MRI in Washington tomorrow.
Strasburg felt discomfort in his forearm and talked about staying in the game, but he made the decision to call the trainers out.
There was no swelling in his arm and by the time Riggleman got out there, Strasburg said he didn’t feel anything anymore. They made the decision to pull him from the game for precautionary reasons.
Good. Dr. Andrews can stay home.

Looked like a stinger....or an electric feeling up his arm.
That the feeling returned so quickly is a good thing.

Hey, does anyone know if it's possible to re-float a fanpost?
The ICON thread and the GuessEm thread are now both relegated to the archive.

I believe Patrick's got editor powers and can change the time of the FanPost so it shows up on the top of the list.
It makes zero sense to me how they got desurfaced. I thought that we had enough recs on both of those threads to make them stick. Right now, though, those to threads need to be front and center.
