What's the consensus about Stras?
I’ve been gone a lot since my boy is off to college [sob sob] and I didn’t see what the Federal Baseball crew think about shutting Jeezus down for the season.
I think they should, no matter what the contrast MRI says.

Sit him...
…if he’s on the DL he really should ramp slowly with rehab coming back from this one and it’s not too long until the end of the season. If they want to bring him back in September to just pitch reduced innings outings I guess I’d understand that. But I’d shut him down.

“So you may not be a handsome and witty baseball player like me, but they’ll still treat you like one and offer you a good price. Good evening, DC Faithful...
looking forward to match up between the the Iowa, I mean Chicago Cubs, and the Nationals.
Meet our new manager, Mike Quade. Behold our bullpen anchored by the veteran pitchers, Sean Marshall and Carlos Marmol. Casey Coleman is making his second start tonight.

Damn.
There should be a big push to re-sign him (and I love Dunn).
It isn’t like he can really lose his “stuff.” Give him a 2 year deal.
He seems to be great around the younger pitchers.
And, well, he has been our best pitcher this year by far.
I just checked the arbitration lists...
…five guys he’s got to pass to get to Type B status. The next one he’s got to pass: Carlos Zambrano.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
If a guy is a type B free agent...
…you can offer him arbitration to him as a free agent. If he accepts, you have to pay him a certain amount for a one year deal. If he declines and signs with another team, you get a compensation pick. Or you can work it out amongst yourselves without going to arbitration.

So long as you don’t cross too big of a line, he will continue to be employed (somewhere).

Marrero's a grizzy guy.
Assessments of Marrero at this point are kind of in the eye of the beholder. You can say that he’d be in the IL at age 22-23 and that he’s young enough to improve. Or you can say that we’ve gotten a good enough look at his ceiling to give up on him as a prospect. Given the utter lack of 1B prospects at AAA, he should get a chance to see if he can build on this at Syracuse next year. Moore’s old for his level at Potomac and needs to be in Harrisburg next year.

Checkin' Just got back from my old hometown of Philly and watched the Giants/Phillies game. If you want to see how a stadium should be built (for the fans, not the condos), and see the spirit of a winning city visit the Phillies.
They have a management that knows what their doing!
I guess I say all of that because right now, the Nats look horrible in every category. What the hell goes with this team? It’s DEAD!!!! No spirit. No hustle. No excitement. At least at RFK, ,the old ballpark, the team was composed of aging vets, and a manager who argued once in awhile to perk the boys up. This team has lots of people going through the motions, including the coaches! For anybody who loves and knows baseball, this team is extremely painful to watch right now. Jason Marquis pitch hitting? When was the last time you saw your supposed, star starting pitcher pitch hitting in the 5th inning. God this is awful!
I’ll make another one of my painful, pessimistic predictions. If things don’t perk up soon the Nats will be playing before less than 15,000 a game in September. I mean without Strasburg what is left?
Since when is Marquis considered a Star Pitcher? LOL
