During a commercial break or something, check out the Oakland ballboy from last night. . . I can’t get enough of it, neither could the guys on the MLB Network. Hysterical, especially the bullpen reaction

Anyone think Saunders tanks tonight?
Going from the only team he knew and loved to a cellar dwellar….. can’t possibly be good for the mind
Wait... what?
Dunn can play while on Waivers? Baseball really does have some strange rules, this one I’m just learning about today. I hope Dunn hits 3 bombs in one at bat tonight, followed by every team in the league putting in a waiver claim, followed by the Nats announcing a 10-year contract for the Donkey.
I will gladly eat crow if Brandon Jones does well for the 49ers in 2010.
Don't fret good sir.
Waivers are waivers, it’s essentially part of the staggered trading system that baseball possesses.

norris possibly couldve made it up by this season if you remove injury and general offensive licking. I think the biggest reason is the training staff and the physicians stringing along flores injury. If rizz had been told long ago that flores wouldnt be back soon/ever he would have been shopping long ago. if you keep hearing throwing program/slight discomfort/microfxs etc, especially on someone who was generally good like flores, you might be less inclined to permanently replace him

So they warn them in this game. Way to go Joe West. The Diamondbacks should have a long memory. So they should file this one away and The Diamondbacks could try to bean one of our players when they come to Nats Park nex in front of an umpiring crew who doesn’t understand the history. On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
I really don't see this as the kind of pitch that gets retaliated against
it was obviously unintentional
It's not all about things being intentional or unintentional.
Some of it is that your teammates career was just endangered and you intentionally but not dangerously plunk a guy in the rear or throw behind him to send a statement to the other team that you don’t approve of what you did to my teammate.
Plus you’d be concerned that Balester is throwing too much inside and it got away from him after the HR. He wasn’t trying to hit him, but he probably was trying to pitch inside and he screwed up.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
Unintentional=No Retaliation.
Or at least it should.
Screech's Godson
UMD Class of 2014! GO TERPS!!!
Right,
but I’m not worried about Zimmerman or Dunn being “plunked in the rear”. Thats not putting their careers at risk. If they want to plunk a guy in the back, go right ahead. The kind of retaliation I’m worried about is head hunting Zimmerman, which would only be done if the opposing team though the beaning was intentional
Totally.
I’m talking about stuff like the Batista plunk in the Phillips game. Phillips wasn’t intentionally trying to show up the Nats or injure Nieves. But lack of thought hurt a Nat and the Nationals were right to respond.
Here, Balester’s lack of ability wasn’t intentional in all likelihood. He was probably trying to buzz somebody and it got away from him. He’s trying to pitch inside like he’s probably been instructed to and failed. But he did injure a Diamondbacks teammate and part of team sports is loyalty to your teammates. You support your teammates by bruising one of their guys without intent to injure as an expression of support for your teammate more than anything else.
A guy like Reynolds is a star player hurting in the dugout and probably feels mad that he’s out of the game. The retaliation helps support that guy.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park. In Rizzo and Ramos we trust.
I get what you're saying
I just don’t see why we’re so worried about one of our players getting plunked in the back after their guy got hit in the head. Not a single one of our players is in danger
I thought that Batista plunked him
because of the chest-thump he did, not for mowing down the catcher.

Grace is an old school ballplayer.
If somebody did that to him, he would be irate if no retaliation was taken. That’s why you have to let the other team show respect for their teammates and bruise somebody on the other team. This is one area where hockey has totally cleaned baseball’s clock. They’ve found a way to minimize fighting while establishing some clear ground rules that prevent some of the dumber elements of fighting. Teams fight, get it out of their system with the goons, and move on with tougher respect.

Dear Mr Umpire
Not every pitch is a strike.

Mr. Umpire to Mr. RobBob: Strikes are where I call them...I disdain any prescribed zone.

Wow.
5 inches inside, or 10 inches outside is perfectly OK.

Internet connection getting cranky.
I did stick around to listen to that epic fail. Truly awful stuff. Let us hope that we won’t have to revert to guess ’em hijinks to get through the games down the stretch going forward.

Punching out...
Not so bold prediction: Bally back to Syracuse soon.

Yeah, you can learn on the job but you can't turn your hitters into marked men.

I'd prefer Domincan WInters
Sunshine will come to Nats Park, I promise. (visit por favor? my website)
I'm not tossing Bally out to pasture yet.
We traded for Ramos. The good news is that we’ve got a AAA prospect who could make a significant contribution immediately. The bad news is that we’ve exhausted the major league talent left at Syracuse by trading away Capps after the Bruney, Walker, and Bergmann failures. Bally’s not supposed to be here and he should go back. I just don’t know what you do in the meantime. Some of this will be easier to figure out when the next starter is ready I guess. Bring back Marquis and have him start in the pen?
