Dunn V Sanabia

I’ve been waiting to see this since Dunn ripped him out of the dog-pile last week. Yes this may just be me trying to add more excitement to a game that means nothing…or it’s just me and my man crush on Dunn. Either way I will be watching.

Don't know how the game data is generated,

but 80 degree game time temperature seems a bit unbelievable — it’s 74 degrees and breezy out now, three hours before the game. Might get cool enough for a sweater (or, possibly, a second beer).

The Infield is GREAT! Please pay no attention to the rest of the team

I am amused by the fact that our 1-4 hitters are the 2b, ss, 3b, 1b.

Morgan is playing? What happened to the suspension?

by d_c_guy on Sep 10, 2010 4:24 PM EDT reply actions

No criticism meant, just amused by the fact that the infield bats 1-4

I might have flipped Morse and Bernadina just to split the lefties up in the lineup. Having Dunn and Bernadina back-to-back will draw LOOGYs

Hasn't Bernie been slumping lately?

After all we’ve pinch hit him for The General late in games and The General rarely chooses to launch bombs. He prefers an avalanche of infantry to overwhelm the opposition. Sadly, not all of the other Nationals are willing to join him in his desperate last stands.

They have pinch hit for him lately against lefties

Perhaps it’s just a knee-jerk reaction. But, yes, he’s not been swinging a hot bat lately.

Apparently the hearing was delayed

By the way, searching in google for Nyjer Morgan, the first three terms that auto-populate are fight, catch, and brawl.

“Last week, Nyjer Morgan was plunked and thrown at before a bench clearing brawl and Gaby Sanchez clotheslined him before a light heavyweight/heavyweight boxing match could begin. Adam Dunn threw guys out of the pile and Pat Listach showed he was man enough to mix it up and hold down beanballer Chris Volstad. Tonight, with Nyjer Morgan’s suspension pending, Nyjer Morgan bats 8th and Adam Dunn and Sanabia will tangle again. National fans it all starts. Right now!”

Cue “Thunderstruck”

Johan Santana: out for the year/ surgery

I’ve always been a Santana fan, so it disappointed me mightily when he became a Met. I can’t say I’m sorry for the Mets, but it is too bad for Johan. Hopefully it’s not too late for him to build those HoF credentials… with another team.

Can't wait

Definitely hoping for a big first inning from the Nats. I fully expect the Marlins to try and play nice here though so I think Morgan will be safe from flying baseballs.

by Chris DC on Sep 10, 2010 6:02 PM EDT reply actions

I'm sure the umpires will warn both benches meaning if anyone is wild and

a pitch gets away from them, they will be tossed and so will their manager. That will make things a little uncomfortable.

Patiently waiting for "next year" since 1971.

by Princess Jazzy on Sep 10, 2010 6:25 PM EDT reply actions

Really don't like the preemptive warning at all. Then it's up to the umpire's discretion when someone loses one...

And ask Utley and Howard, Lannan’s occasionally going to lose one inside and the idea that he could get tossed based on the ump’s opinion of intentions makes me really uncomfortable…

Well, the Marlins should be winning another World Series in the next few years.

We are doing good considering a ton of injuries this year. Most of our players are fresh out of AAA.

I do wish the Nationals luck though. It’s a shame what Loria did to them (killed the Expos.) He has done a lot of damage to the Marlins too.
