Morgan Gets Eight Games, According to SI.com's Jon Heyman
According to a tweet by SI.com's Jon Heyman, Nyjer Morgan will receive an eight-game suspension for "three separate incidents" this week; presumably his collision with Cardinals catcher Bryan Anderson, his role in the Wednesday night brawl, and taunting the Marlins crowd on his way off the field.
He also mentions other suspensions: Chris Volstad (six games), Alex Sanabia (five games), Gaby Sanchez (three games) and Doug Slaten (three games).
MASN.com's Ben Goessling tweeted later that Manager Jim Riggleman was "suspended for Friday and Saturday's games" as well, and third base caoch Pat Listach's three-game suspension will start Sunday to avoid overlapping wihh Riggleman.
Goessling also reports that Riggleman was fined for "inappropriate comments" by Frank Robinson, MLB director of Umpires.
I've watched the replays of the brawl about a dozen times, and all I can see of Alex Sanabia is him getting tossed like a rag doll by Adam Dunn out of the pile. For that he gets just three games less than Morgan?
It will be interesting to read the final report from this one.

seems about right
Just re-watched the videos to see what Sanabia did. You can see him clearly just raining down punches on Nyjer for a good 5 seconds. If you want to look at it look for #59 on his knees delivering blow after blow.
Hope he used his left han---ah whatever use your right hand, Sanabia.

I think that was probably the dirtiest thing in all this mess, if he'd really hurt Morgan he'd definitely have gotten more...
But I agree he should’ve gotten more.

Riggs gets a 2 game suspension and the Marlins' DB manager only gets
one? Oh yeah, that’s fair. Cheap Shot Sanchez deserved a longer suspension than Sanabia.
Patiently waiting for "next year" since 1971.
He gets more than the Marlins because of the Slaten retaliation.
MLB expects him to not order any more retaliation after the fight. Should Morgan ever want to call out the coaching staff again, he needs to remember that Riggles took the bullet for him on that and Listach was the first guy trying to defend him.

He already called Riggs out in Ladson's article on MLB posted either yesterday or today.
Wouldn’t comment on his relationship with Riggleman saying, “I’d rather not go there.”
Nice of him.

I think at this point Morgan's immaturity is well documented...
regardless of how anyone thinks he “plays the game”.

I really don't see how he's back with the Nats next year, but you never know.

Pirates fans cheered him last year if he gets to play by appealling and getting put in the line-up I wonder how he will be revieved.
At this point...
…the team should strongly be encouraging him to accept this suspension and take a seat.

(Caveat: He should still appeal the Phillies fan suspension)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean.

I doubt that this appeal will get him much
I’m pretty sure the league must have some pretty damning evidence already to have laid down such a big suspension for an incident that managed to fly under the radar. In any case, he can serve out the eight games starting tonight, and it will essentially be done by the time he faces his appeal board next Friday. (“You again??!!”)

Should he take this now or wait until the appeal?
He can play for another week and sit out the rest of the year.

I hope he doesn't appeal this suspension
I’m tired of him already and want to enjoy watching the other Nats
play without worrying about a Nyjer meltdown. But he’ll probably
appeal this one, too. Can we hope Riggs sits him
In lineup tonight, so he has apparently appealed...
